The DFW Car & Toy Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, has added a 1958 Studebaker Silver Hawk to the Ron Sturgeon Collection, showcasing a blend of classic styling and modern enhancements. The vehicle, refurbished in the late 1990s, features an Edelbrock carburetor, aftermarket intake manifold, auxiliary electric cooling fan, and PerTronix electronic ignition, alongside aftermarket air conditioning and a Custom AutoSound radio with modern speakers.
The Silver Hawk retains its original rear-wheel-drive layout and column-shifted three-speed manual transmission with overdrive, offering an authentic driving experience. Suspension includes double-action shock absorbers with variable-rate springs up front and leaf springs at the rear, with drum brakes at each corner. Power-assisted steering provides a smoother ride. Inside, the car features a bright horn-ring steering wheel, machine-turned dash panel, and a 120-mph speedometer with auxiliary gauges. A Sunpro tachometer is mounted below the dash, and the five-digit odometer reads 42,000 miles, believed to have rolled over.
Ron Sturgeon, founder of the museum, said the Silver Hawk represents the best of classic Americana with thoughtful upgrades that make it enjoyable to drive and admire. The car is now on display as part of a rotating exhibit of over 200 vehicles and 3,000 collectibles.
