The 2010 Spyker C8 Spyder, a handcrafted Dutch exotic originally owned by NFL legend Reggie Wayne, has taken its place in the Ron Sturgeon Collection at the DFW Car & Toy Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. The car, finished in sleek black with fewer than 1,600 miles, represents a fusion of aviation-inspired design and unfiltered driving experience. Its aluminum space frame, adjustable independent suspension with Koni shocks, and slotted disc brakes with Spyker-branded calipers underscore the vehicle's mechanical artistry.
Every angle of the C8 Spyder exudes mechanical artistry, from the scissor doors and frameless windows to the polished roll hoops and intricate exposed shifter linkage. Inside, the cabin is wrapped in engine-turned aluminum panels, with milled switchgear, polished door hardware, and a dashboard that evokes a fighter jet more than a GT cruiser. The mid-mounted 4.2-liter Audi V8 produces 400 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, delivered through a Getrag six-speed manual and Drexler limited-slip differential. This powertrain offers a redline howl and analog purity that few modern cars can match, making the C8 Spyder one of the most visceral open-air performance machines of the 21st century.
Ron Sturgeon, founder of the museum, remarked, "There are supercars, and then there are works of art with license plates—and the Spyker C8 is the latter. From the exposed linkage to the aircraft-style toggle switches, it's a rolling sculpture built for speed. With under 1,600 miles and a connection to Reggie Wayne, this one's truly something special." The 2010 Spyker C8 Spyder is one of over 200 collector vehicles featured at the museum, with new highlights added throughout the year.
The DFW Car & Toy Museum, located at 2550 McMillan Parkway in North Fort Worth, offers free admission and parking, and welcomes dogs.
