The 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from July 15 to 21 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, running concurrently with the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks. This year's theme, 'Cultural Legacy | Joyful Journeys', aims to inspire readers to explore cultural heritage through reading and travel. The three fairs are expected to bring together over 770 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, offering a one-stop destination for culture, sports, and leisure experiences.
Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, stated, 'We hope to inspire readers to explore the heritage and innovation of traditional culture in modern society through reading. Furthermore, we invite everyone to immerse themselves in cultural and eco-tourism, and experience the beauty of culture and nature.' More than 600 cultural events will be held both at the fairground and across the city, including seminars, exhibitions, and interactive activities.
The Book Fair will feature the 'World of Art & Culture' zone, supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency, which includes the 'World in Words, A Voyage of the Heart' exhibition. This exhibition uses 'Local Eye' and 'Global Eye' perspectives to connect Hong Kong stories with world literature, showcasing over 200 books and items from around the globe. Eight seminar series will host renowned writers such as Liu Zhenyun, Su Tong, Bi Feiyu, and Luke Kennard, along with discussions on economy and current affairs by Joe Ngai of McKinsey & Company. For the first time, the ASEAN Literary Festival will be introduced under the English and International Books Seminar Series, featuring authors like Eka Kurniawan and Clarissa Goenawan.
The Sports and Leisure Expo will offer sports experiences, fitness products, and edutainment activities, including the 'Fit & Fearless Challenge' and interactive animal experiences from My Mini Zoo. The World of Snacks will feature over 1,300 snacks from nearly 30 countries, including local brands like Amore Hand Baked and innovative products from Do Did Dust.
A single ticket provides access to all three events, with adult tickets priced at HK$30. Special promotions include morning admission tickets for HK$10 and a '60 Book Fair Super Passes' giveaway celebrating HKTDC's 60th anniversary.
