The 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and runs until March 8. The event is held concurrently with the 12th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show at AsiaWorld-Expo (through March 6), together forming the world’s largest one-stop jewellery marketplace with some 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions.
Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, said the show features an expanded Hall of Fame, the debut of the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion, and a first-time delegation from Uzbekistan with 10 companies. “Through diversified exhibit profiles, we aim to create more collaboration opportunities for the industry and reinforce Hong Kong’s status as a global jewellery trading hub,” she said.
Kent Wong, Chairman of the fair’s organizing committee, noted that the twin shows play a pivotal role in Hong Kong’s position as an international trade and sourcing centre. The “Two Shows, Two Venues” format attracts global jewellery professionals for sourcing and networking, helping the industry capture the latest market trends.
International brands are a key highlight, with the Hall of Fame expanded by over 40%. Turkish exhibitor Hosgor Kuyumculuk Mucevherat Ticaret Limited Sirketi (Booth: CEC 3B-D15) presents a 35.5-carat diamond necklace. The Hall of Extraordinary features exhibitors such as Hong Kong’s Glamour Fine Jewelry Enterprise Company (Booth: CEC GH-C16), showcasing a bracelet with Colombian emeralds, diamonds, and rubies.
New pavilions emphasize oriental aesthetics. The Hard Pure Gold Pavilion (Booth: CEC 3E-F02), organized by the World Gold Council, features 11 exhibitors demonstrating techniques that produce harder, lighter, and brighter gold pieces capable of setting gemstones. The Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion highlights crossover craftsmanship between jewellery setting and watchmaking.
Several events celebrate oriental aesthetics. The Jewellers’ and Goldsmiths’ Association of Hong Kong presented awards for the Hong Kong International Fashion Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition, encouraging designs for ASEAN and Middle East markets. Tomorrow (March 5), the inaugural International Fei Cui Jewellery Design Competition, organized by the Hong Kong Jade Association, will honour designers blending jadeite with global cultural elements.
Antique jewellery remains sought-after. The Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria includes a bi-colour enamel diamond piece from World Coins Co., Ltd. (Booth: CEC CH-N12), over a century old. The Designer Galleria welcomes 10 Korean designers, and the Young Jewellery Designer Arena features about 50 designers from the Asia Pacific Creator Association and Asia Jewelry Culture Design and Crafts Association.
The HKTDC continues to nurture local talent through the 27th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition under the theme “Pure Elegance – Natural Beauty,” with awards on March 5 and winning pieces on display.
E-commerce and technology are key focuses. The fairs collaborate with Taobao Tmall and, for the first time, Douyin, partnering with influencers for live streaming. A seminar on March 7 will discuss online marketing trends, while another on March 5 explores how AI and new technologies enhance competitiveness and product innovation.
Engaging events include a seminar by Dr. Jack Ogden on jewellery craftsmanship history, and jewellery parades highlighting intangible cultural heritage, antique pieces, and gold jewellery.
