AIXTRON SE (FSE: AIXA), a leading provider of deposition equipment to the semiconductor industry, has announced preliminary financial results for the third quarter of 2026 that substantially surpass market expectations. The company reported order intake of approximately EUR 275 million, more than double the EUR 124.0 million recorded in the same quarter last year and well above the median analyst estimate of EUR 214.6 million. This also represents a significant sequential increase from the EUR 214.5 million reported in the second quarter of 2026.
The surge in orders is primarily attributed to robust demand for equipment used in laser applications for AI data center communications, according to CEO Dr. Felix Grawert. "Our order intake continues to be driven by strong demand for equipment for laser applications in AI data center communications," Grawert stated. "At the same time, a favorable product mix contributed to profitability significantly above market expectations. The high order intake clearly strengthens our business prospects for 2027."
Revenue for the quarter came in at approximately EUR 184 million, up from EUR 119.6 million in Q3 2025 and within the company's forecast range of EUR 180 million plus or minus EUR 20 million. The standout performance was in profitability: gross profit reached roughly EUR 87 million, yielding a gross margin of about 48%, compared to EUR 46.4 million and 39% a year earlier. Operating result (EBIT) jumped to approximately EUR 57 million, with an EBIT margin of around 31%, up from EUR 15.4 million and 13% in the prior-year quarter.
These results underscore AIXTRON's ability to capitalize on secular growth trends in AI infrastructure, where demand for high-speed data transmission is fueling investment in advanced semiconductor technologies. The favorable product mix that boosted margins suggests the company is successfully shifting toward higher-value solutions, which could lead to sustained profitability improvements. For investors, the strong order intake provides greater visibility into future revenue streams and reinforces confidence in the company's strategic direction.
The guidance for fiscal year 2026 remains unchanged, signaling management's confidence in the sustainability of current trends. The full quarterly group statement, including results for the first nine months of 2026, will be published on October 29, 2026. For further information on AIXTRON, visit www.aixtron.com.
