AmpliTech Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMPG) has announced the launch of two new 5G base station units, expanding its Open RAN (ORAN) equipment portfolio with mid-band solutions targeting global 5G deployments. The new radios support Band 2 (PCS 1900 FDD) and Band 41/n41 (2.5 GHz TDD), two widely used spectrum bands for mobile and private 5G networks.
The new outdoor radio units (O-RUs) comply with O-RAN Split 7-2a architecture, feature 10G fronthaul over SFP+, and operate on -48V DC telecom power. These specifications enable streamlined integration into modern Open RAN architectures, reducing deployment complexity for operators. The radios are designed for high-capacity urban networks, airport and university private 5G systems, smart city video and IoT deployments, stadium connectivity, fixed wireless broadband, and industrial automation in mining and ports.
According to industry forecasts, global Open RAN infrastructure spending is expected to grow significantly as operators modernize legacy networks. AmpliTech's new radios target markets where Band 2 and Band 41 are allocated, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, and numerous countries in Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. Specific country availability depends on local spectrum allocations and regulatory approvals.
AmpliTech will showcase these new radios, along with its other O-RAN 5G products, at MWC Barcelona 2026, held from March 2–5, 2026, at Fira Gran Via. The company will be located in Hall 2, Stand 2B20. MWC Barcelona is the world's largest connectivity event, bringing together leaders in 5G, Open RAN, AI, and cloud technologies.
