Andina Copper Drilling Extends Cobrasco Cu-Mo Footprint to 1,000m x 500m

Andina Copper's step-out drillhole CDH007 at the Cobrasco project in Colombia intersected 292m of 0.48% Cu, expanding the mineralized footprint to 1,000m x 500m, which remains open in all directions.

Andina Copper Drilling Extends Cobrasco Cu-Mo Footprint to 1,000m x 500m

Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) has reported a significant drill intercept from CDH007, the second hole drilled from a new step-out pad at the Cobrasco Project in Chocó, Colombia. The results continue to demonstrate the potential for a world-class copper porphyry system, with the mineralized footprint now measuring approximately 1,000 meters by 500 meters and remaining open in all directions.

CDH007 was drilled to the northeast from the same pad as CDH006, which earlier returned 232 meters at 0.68% copper, 75 ppm molybdenum, and 2 g/t silver from 38 meters. The new hole intersected 292 meters at 0.48% copper, 62 ppm molybdenum, and 1.7 g/t silver from 44 meters, confirming a significant extension of shallow mineralization to the northwest and closely mirroring results from CDH006. Mineralization starts near-surface and continues uninterrupted to 324 meters, where a fault zone terminates the mineralized host unit and grades decrease.

According to the company, the current drill program has rapidly expanded the mineralized footprint at Cobrasco Central, with every drillhole completed to date reporting significant porphyry copper-molybdenum intercepts from surface or near-surface to depths of approximately 600 meters. The system comprises multiple intrusive phases, subvolcanic flow-domes, and mineralization events occurring at or near surface. Additional step-out drillholes CDH008 (completed) and CDH009 (in progress) have been drilled from the same pad to test extensions to mineralization in north and northwest orientations, with assays pending for both holes.

Joseph van den Elsen, President and CEO of Andina Copper, commented: “We continue to rapidly advance a wide-spaced scout drilling programme and actively extend the limits of the Cobrasco Central system. Incredibly, after only 7 drillholes the Cu-Mo mineralization footprint already covers an area of 1,000 x 500m, continues to grow with each drillhole and remains open in all directions. Our team will continue to test the limits of mineralization and preparations are underway for the mobilization of a second drill rig.”

Geologically, CDH007 is mineralized from surface, with subdued grades in saprolite to 48 meters, followed by strongly fractured rhyolitic porphyry extending to 218 meters containing a continuous high-grade interval. Magmatic breccias with associated high-grade assays greater than 1% copper occur between 254-284 meters and 292-324 meters, characterized by intense A-vein stockwork and chalcopyrite as fault gouge and fracture fill. The end of brecciation is marked by a faulted contact at 324 meters, below which a dacitic-andesitic intrusive unit extends to 436 meters with decreased grades.

The company notes that high-grade intervals reported to date will be targeted with a second drill rig. The Cobrasco Project is located along the Andean porphyry belt, and Andina Copper also holds interests in Argentina and Chile. The full results and details are available in the company's corporate presentation.
