Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) reported another outstanding drill intercept from hole CDH006 at the Cobrasco Project in Chocó, Colombia. The hole, collared approximately 400m northwest of previous drill pads, tested the northwest extension of the mineralized system and returned 486m at 0.42% Cu, 51ppm Mo, and 1.20g/t Ag, including 232m at 0.68% Cu, 75ppm Mo, and 2.0g/t Ag from 38m. This confirms continuity of the Cobrasco Central Cu-Mo mineralization system to the NW.
Drillhole CDH006 was designed as a step-out from pad #3, located 400m NW of previous pad #4 (CDH002–CDH005) and 300m SW of pad #1 (CDH001). The hole drilled to 898.90m depth (Az: 225°, Dip: -60°), intersecting near-surface mineralization starting at 38m within weathered saprolite and continuing through multiple anomalous intervals in rhyodacitic porphyries to a faulted contact at 808m. Two additional holes (CDH007 and CDH008) have been completed from the same platform, with assays pending. Visible mineralization has been observed in both.
Systematic step-out drilling has expanded the known mineralization footprint within the upper 600m to a lateral extent of approximately 950 x 525m, which remains open in all directions. The company plans to continue broadly spaced scout drilling to define limits and test newly developed targets. A second drill rig is being mobilized to support definition of new targets and in-fill drilling across widely spaced scout holes.
President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen commented: “Every scout drillhole completed to-date has intersected significant intervals of Cu-Mo mineralization, further extending the mineralization footprint. This footprint now covers an area of at least 950 x 525m within the emerging Cobrasco Central mineralization.”
The geology of CDH006 shows a clear association between structural preparation (shearing and brecciation) and alteration/mineralization. The upper 46m consists of strongly weathered saprolite, with a low-angle fault structure marking the introduction of high grades (e.g., sample G517536: 46–48m at 4.6% Cu, 1495ppm Mo). Deeper intervals show competent rhyolite and rhyodacite with quartz-sulphide veining and phyllic alteration. The interval 38m to 270m contains the standout intercept of 232m at 0.68% Cu and 75ppm Mo. A faulted contact at 808m marks a polymictic intrusive breccia with decreased mineralization, though sporadic intervals continue to the end of the hole (e.g., sample G543022: 894–896m at 0.48% Cu, 58ppm Mo).
Quality assurance and quality control procedures were followed, with core sampled at nominal 2m intervals and sent to ALS laboratories in Medellin and Lima for analysis. The company’s qualified person, Francisco Montes, a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, reviewed and approved the technical information.
