Andina Copper's Extension Drilling at Cobrasco Project Confirms Large-Scale Mineralization to the South

Hole CDH005 extends the mineralized envelope 600 meters south, demonstrating a large, shallow porphyry copper-molybdenum system with significant implications for the project's potential as a globally significant copper deposit.

Andina Copper's Extension Drilling at Cobrasco Project Confirms Large-Scale Mineralization to the South

Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) reported an outstanding drill intercept from hole CDH005 at its Cobrasco Project in Choco, Colombia. The hole, designed to test the southern extensions of the Cobrasco system to a depth of 700 meters, confirmed a large-scale southerly extension of copper-molybdenum-silver mineralization. This step-out hole intersected wide intervals of mineralization, further demonstrating the project's potential.

Hole CDH005 was collared from the same platform as previous holes CDH002, CDH003, and CDH004, oriented due south at an azimuth of 180° and dip of -50°. It tested approximately 600 meters of lateral extent and 700 meters of vertical extent, terminating at a downhole depth of 934 meters. Unlike earlier holes that intersected felsic lithologies, CDH005 is characterized by mineralized diorite to dacite-andesite porphyries, with visually significant chalcopyrite-dominant sulphide mineralization. The continuity of intrusive phases, alteration styles, and mineralization supports the interpretation of a large, long-lived mineralizing system extending south of the currently defined Cobrasco footprint.

The results from CDH005, along with previous high-grade Cu-Mo intersections from CDH003 and CDH004, indicate a large multi-phase porphyry Cu-Mo system. Drilling to date has tested an area of approximately 1000 meters by 750 meters, less than half the potential footprint of the 2500-meter by 1000-meter target area. The company plans to accelerate exploration with a second drill to systematically explore and define the lateral extents of the system and add volume to higher-grade copper shells. Step-out drillholes CDH006 and CDH007 have been completed with assays pending, and CDH008 is underway targeting the northern extension.

Andina Copper’s President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen commented: “Ongoing drilling at Cobrasco continues to demonstrate the large-scale and relatively shallow nature of Cobrasco Central, with results from hole CDH005 significantly extending the mineralized envelope to the south. With broad spaced holes having tested less than half the target area to-date, we see the potential for a globally significant copper deposit(s) at Cobrasco.”
