Barrister Helen Hogben of Trinity Chambers will chair the upcoming Manchester HR Conference, titled "Dismissal for HR: Shaping New Developments into Solution-Focused Answers for Employers," on 25 March 2026 at The Lowry Hotel. The conference aims to equip HR professionals with practical, court-proven strategies for handling employee dismissals in a complex legal landscape.
Hogben, a highly experienced employment and discrimination barrister with a national practice, will open the day with a keynote address and lead discussions with a panel of legal experts. The sessions will address challenging issues such as managing obstructive behaviour, handling word-against-word scenarios, accommodating neurodivergence, dealing with cultural misalignment, addressing mental health-related absenteeism, and navigating redundancies involving employees on maternity leave.
Panelists include Rebecca Peck of Bexley Beaumont, who will explore strategies for performance management when employees resist engagement or allege bullying; Danielle Ingham from Mills & Reeve, who will guide on inappropriate behaviour at off-site events; Angela Brumpton of Gunnercooke, discussing undiagnosed neurodivergence; Mary Walker from Gordons, addressing negative or disruptive employees; Bryn Doyle of Lewis Silkin, minimizing legal risks with mental health absences; and Naeema Choudry from Eversheds Sutherland, clarifying suitable alternative employment during redundancy.
Hogben, appointed Junior Counsel to the Crown in 2023 and listed in the Legal 500 for seven years, brings extensive expertise to the role. Her notable cases and commitment to professional development through seminars and webinars underscore her suitability as chair. The full-day event includes lunch and offers five hours of CPD.
