Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. (BBD), a national collector and processor of used cooking oil (UCO), announced on September 30, 2026, its expansion into the Texas market, beginning with collection operations in Kilgore. The move follows the company's recent acquisition of a Part 360 solid waste management permit from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which provides operational certainty for its existing facility in Tonawanda, New York.
The company is executing a scaled entry into East Texas, anchored in Kilgore. To maintain immediate processing continuity, limited quantities of UCO collected in Texas are being transported to BBD's Tonawanda facility, which has a capacity of 300,000 gallons per week. However, this long-haul logistics is described as a temporary bridge to a larger Southern infrastructure initiative.
"Securing our long-term operating permit in Tonawanda gave us the green light to aggressively push our borders outward," said Frank V. Balon, President and Chief Legal Officer of Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. "While we are successfully shipping high-yield material from Kilgore back to our New York headquarters today, our vision is regional processing. We are already in the planning stages for new processing plants in Alabama and Georgia, which will be modeled directly after the success and scale of our Tonawanda facility."
The planned facilities in Alabama and Georgia will serve as high-capacity processing hubs for the expanding Southern collection routes. By replicating the Tonawanda plant's infrastructure, Buffalo Biodiesel aims to localize its processing footprint. This future infrastructure is expected to significantly reduce transportation mileage, lower carbon emissions associated with logistics, and provide a direct, high-volume supply of refined feedstock to the regional advanced biofuel market.
The expansion into Texas and the strategic development across the Southeast reinforce Buffalo Biodiesel's commitment to building an efficient, sustainable, and national closed-loop supply chain for renewable energy producers. The company, founded in 2005, specializes in the recovery and transformation of UCO and agricultural waste streams into renewable fuels and advanced materials. Headquartered in Buffalo, New York, it operates in 15 states. More information is available at www.buffalobiodiesel.com.
