The scholarship is open to students across the United States who are enrolled in or accepted to an accredited undergraduate, graduate, or professional program, including community college students, high school seniors, and GED holders. Applicants must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate a genuine commitment to helping others through difficult times.
The scholarship aims to recognize students who have taken concrete actions to assist others in recovery from injury, illness, or hardship. As founding attorney Darrell L. Burrow explained, "After a serious injury, recovery depends on the people who step in to help, and we have seen firsthand how much that support matters for our own clients. This scholarship is our way of recognizing students who have taken real action to help others recover and rebuild, and who plan to keep doing that work long after they graduate."
To apply, students must submit an essay of 1,000 words or less responding to three prompts about helping others through injury, illness, and hardship. Additionally, applicants must provide a current resume and an unofficial transcript. All materials must be emailed to scholarships@legalatlanta.com by the deadline of August 31, 2027. The scholarship recipient will be announced on October 1, 2027.
The award is intentionally open to any field of study, reflecting the firm's belief that compassion and support are not limited to legal professionals. A qualifying applicant might be a student who cares for a family member after an accident, volunteers with individuals healing from an injury or illness, or helps a neighbor get back on their feet after a challenging year.
