Canamera Energy Metals Corp. (CSE: EMET) (OTCQB: EMETF) (FSE: 4LF0) announced it has signed a non-binding letter of intent to acquire an option to earn a 100% interest in the Patos ionic clay rare earth element (REE) project in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The project covers approximately 15,979 hectares and represents a significant opportunity in the critical minerals space, as ionic clay deposits are known for hosting high-value magnet rare earths essential for electric vehicles, wind turbines, and defense technologies.
The agreement outlines a two-stage process. Initially, Canamera will conduct a due diligence auger drill program of up to 10 holes, budgeted at C$20,000, to confirm the presence of ionic clay REE mineralization. If the results are favorable, Canamera can exercise the option by making aggregate consideration payments of C$228,000 in cash and issuing C$307,800 in common shares. The vendor will retain a 2% net smelter return (NSR) royalty, with a buyback right allowing Canamera to reduce the royalty to 1% for C$228,000.
This move aligns with Canamera's strategy to build a portfolio of district-scale rare earth and critical metals opportunities across the Americas. The company's existing assets include the Mantle project in British Columbia, the Garrow REE project in Northern Ontario, the Schryburt Lake rare earth and niobium project in Ontario, the Iron Hills critical and rare earth project in Colorado, and the Turvolândia and São Sepé REE projects in Brazil. By targeting underexplored regions with strong geological signatures and supportive jurisdictions, Canamera aims to generate high-conviction, first-mover exploration targets.
The Patos project adds to Canamera's Brazilian footprint, which already includes two other REE projects. Brazil is increasingly recognized as a key jurisdiction for rare earth exploration due to its favorable geology and mining-friendly policies. Ionic clay deposits, in particular, are prized for their relatively low-cost processing and ability to produce separated rare earth oxides.

Canamera Energy Metals Corp. is a rare earth and critical metals exploration company focused on district-scale opportunities across the Americas. The company applies geochemical, geophysical, and geological datasets to advance its projects in supportive jurisdictions. As the demand for rare earth elements continues to grow, driven by the global energy transition, Canamera's strategic acquisitions and exploration efforts position it to potentially supply critical materials for clean energy technologies.
This announcement underscores the increasing importance of securing domestic and allied nation sources of rare earths. With China dominating the global supply chain, projects like Patos in Brazil offer a diversified source for these strategic minerals. The successful completion of the option could significantly bolster Canamera's resource base and contribute to the broader effort to reduce dependence on single-source suppliers.
