Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic has opened applications for its $1,000 Pain Relief and Wellness Scholarship, a move that highlights the increasing demand for healthcare professionals dedicated to alleviating pain and promoting wellness. The scholarship, announced by the Baltimore-based practice, aims to support students pursuing careers in chiropractic, physical therapy, nursing, and other related fields. With applications accepted through August 31, 2027, and the recipient to be announced in September 2027, the initiative underscores the practice's commitment to fostering the next generation of pain relief specialists.
The scholarship is open to students enrolled in accredited undergraduate, graduate, or professional programs across the United States, including community college students. High school seniors and GED holders who have been accepted to or are enrolled in an accredited program also qualify. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 and submit an essay of 1,000 words or fewer, an updated resume, and a current unofficial transcript. The essay should explain what inspired the applicant to help people with pain, what they have done so far toward that goal, and how their education will help them achieve it. While the scholarship is not limited to one field of study, each essay must demonstrate a clear commitment to pain relief and wellness.
Dr. Marc Gulitz, founder of Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic, emphasized the importance of this initiative: "Every day, our doctors and staff see how much relieving pain can change a person's physical and mental health. This scholarship lets us invest in a student who shares that purpose, whether they plan to become a chiropractor, a physical therapist, a nurse, or another provider focused on helping others recover." Dr. Gulitz holds a B.S. in molecular biology from Lehigh University and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College, and he serves on the board of the Maryland Chiropractic Association.
The practice, founded in Baltimore in 2012, has grown to include 14 chiropractors and serves patients across Baltimore City and five surrounding Maryland counties. Its services include chiropractic care, physical therapy in Baltimore, MD, corrective exercises, spinal and postural screenings, and lifestyle advice. The scholarship aligns with the practice's mission to relieve pain and improve health, addressing a critical need in a country where chronic pain affects millions and access to care remains a challenge.
By investing in students who are passionate about pain relief, the scholarship not only helps individuals pursue their education but also contributes to a larger pipeline of skilled professionals. As the opioid crisis continues to spotlight the need for non-pharmacological pain management, initiatives like this are vital. They encourage students to enter fields that offer holistic and effective solutions, ultimately improving patient outcomes and community health. The scholarship thus represents more than financial aid; it is a strategic investment in the future of pain relief and wellness care.
