Dogwood Therapeutics Reports First Quarter 2026 Results, Pipeline Progress on Halneuron and SP16

Dogwood Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: DWTX) reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2026, emphasizing operational momentum with key pipeline advancements. The company focuses on developing non-opioid medicines for pain and neuropathy, and its lead candidate Halneuron® is in Phase 2b development for chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain (CINP). Top-line results from the ongoing study are anticipated in fall 2026, with 164 patients currently enrolled.

In a significant regulatory milestone, SP16 received IND approval from the FDA and is set to begin enrollment in mid-2026 for treating chemotherapy-induced pain and peripheral neuropathy (CIPPN). The Phase 1b trial is fully funded by the National Cancer Institute and will be conducted at the University of Virginia. SP16 is a low-density lipoprotein receptor related protein-1 (LRP1) agonist with potential to repair nerve damage and reduce inflammation.

CEO Greg Duncan noted the company's strong start to 2026, driven by pipeline progress and a global development license for legacy antiviral assets. The company completed a financing of up to $26.9 million in January 2026, with $12.5 million in gross proceeds received, extending operational runway into the fourth quarter of 2026. Cash on hand was $13.2 million as of March 31, 2026.

Financially, research and development expenses rose to $2.7 million from $2.4 million in Q1 2025, primarily due to increased drug development costs for Halneuron and personnel expenses. General and administrative expenses increased to $2.4 million from $2.0 million, driven by higher salaries. Net loss attributable to common stockholders was $5.0 million, or $0.15 per share, compared to $12.2 million, or $8.45 per share, in the prior year.

Halneuron has received fast track designation from the FDA for CINP and is a non-opioid NaV 1.7 inhibitor. The company's pipeline also includes SP16, which preclinically demonstrated anti-inflammatory action and potential tissue repair. Dogwood Therapeutics is listed on Nasdaq and its largest shareholder is a member of CK Life Sciences Int’l. For more information, visit www.dwtx.com.
