DTLA ArtNight, Downtown Los Angeles's monthly celebration of arts, culture, and community, has announced the largest expansion in its history with the official addition of the Fashion District beginning Thursday, August 6, 2026. This move connects Grand Avenue, the Historic Core, and the Fashion District into one unified cultural experience, marking a significant step in the organization's mission to activate Downtown Los Angeles and showcase its diversity.
Michael Angelo DeLance, President of DTLA ArtNight and Happening In DTLA, emphasized the importance of connecting neighborhoods through arts and culture. "DTLA ArtNight was created to activate Downtown Los Angeles and showcase everything that makes our city extraordinary," he said. "Expanding into the Fashion District is an exciting next step as we continue building one connected Downtown."
The Fashion District, long known for fashion, design, and entrepreneurship, has evolved into a destination for galleries, artist studios, hospitality, and creative businesses. Featured partners include the Bendix Building, Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, CRE8, Mary at The STILE Hotel, and Zenith Gallery. These venues will open their doors to visitors, offering unique experiences that blend art, fashion, and creativity.
Kelly O'Brien, founder of Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, expressed enthusiasm: "Joining DTLA ArtNight is an exciting opportunity to welcome visitors into our working studio and share both the creative process and the finished work. Mary at The STILE Hotel, located inside the historic United Artists Building, also joins as a hospitality destination. "Whether guests stop in for coffee during the day or cocktails and live music in the evening, we look forward to welcoming the DTLA ArtNight community."
In addition to the Fashion District expansion, DTLA ArtNight continues its partnerships with Grand Avenue cultural institutions, including DATALAND, The Broad, MOCA, Grand Performances, and The Colburn School. DATALAND will present its inaugural exhibition, "Machine Dreams: Rainforest," described as the world's first omni-sensory AI art experience spanning more than 25,000 square feet. Refik Anadol, Co-Founder and Artistic Director, said, "For many years, we have dreamed of a place where audience and artwork could merge. At DATALAND, that dream has now become reality."
A special classical music collaboration between Grand Performances and The Colburn School will take place at Spiral Court at California Plaza on August 6 at 6:00 p.m. The program explores connections across classical music eras and cultures, featuring works by Joseph Bologne, Johann Sebastian Bach, Reena Esmail, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, and Astor Piazzolla. Rafael González, President & CEO of Grand Performances, noted, "Great programming should surprise and inspire. Our partnership with The Colburn School brings a new classical music experience to DTLA ArtNight."
DTLA ArtNight also introduces featured experiences, including a photography contest hosted by Samy's Camera and Sony Electronics at Emergent Gallery. Participants can borrow Sony cameras and lenses, photograph the event, and compete for a $2,000 Grand Prize in Sony gear. Roui Kamienowicz, COO of Samy's Camera, said, "This contest is about bringing people together through photography." Eric Bruehl of Sony Electronics added, "Partnering with Samy's Camera and participating in DTLA ArtNight provides a unique opportunity for photographers to experience Sony's latest imaging technology."
The historic Biltmore Los Angeles will host photographer Andrei Duman's exhibition "The Art of X Rays," accompanied by live jazz and an artist book signing. This expansion underscores DTLA ArtNight's commitment to uniting neighborhoods and cultural organizations into one shared Downtown experience. Additional programming and participating venues will be announced in the coming days.
