The Entertainment Expo Hong Kong 2026, scheduled from 15 March to 19 April, will once again serve as a vital platform connecting innovators and industry leaders across the global film and entertainment industries. Spanning four major fields—film, television, music, and digital entertainment—the Expo brings together eight flagship events, including the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART), the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), the Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA), and the Asian Film Awards. This year, the Expo has invited Leon Lai as Hong Kong Entertainment Ambassador to promote the city as a leading hub for film and entertainment in Asia.
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) with sponsorship from the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) and the Film Development Fund, the Expo’s kick-off ceremony will be held on 17 March at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The occasion will also mark the 30th edition of FILMART and the 50th edition of HKIFF, reinforcing the significance of this milestone year.
FILMART, running from 17 to 20 March, will feature more than 790 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions, with more than 30 regional pavilions representing markets such as France, Italy, Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, and ASEAN members. Highlights include the second edition of Producers Connect, which will gather over 100 global and Hong Kong producers to foster cross-regional collaborations, and a keynote forum with renowned director Peter Chan and Golden Globe-winning producer Janet Yang. The AI Hub will expand its scale, featuring companies like Alibaba Cloud, Kling AI, and MiniMax, alongside local academic institutions, and the newly launched AI Academy will host over 15 thematic workshops on leveraging AI tools for content production.
The 50th HKIFF, taking place from 1 to 12 April under the theme “50 and Beyond: Framing the Future,” will feature actors Angela Yuen and Tony Wu as ambassadors, and acclaimed actress Gingle Wang and Thailand's Metawin Opas-iamkajorn as Asian Visionary Ambassadors. A special exhibition at Hong Kong City Hall and a collaboration with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for the Asian premiere of “In the Mood for Love in Concert” will celebrate the festival’s heritage.
The 44th Hong Kong Film Awards will be held on 19 April, with Sons of the Neon Night leading nominations. The 19th Asian Film Awards will present masterclasses and “In Conversation” sessions with guests like Zhang Ziyi and Jia Zhangke. The Digital Entertainment Summit on 19 March will explore animation IP development, featuring speakers from Warner Bros. Discovery and France’s CNC. EntertainmentPulse, held concurrently with FILMART, will offer insights on AI, streaming, micro-short dramas, and co-productions. The Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum will showcase 42 shortlisted projects, and the Microfilm Production Support Scheme will hold its awards ceremony on 20 March.
