The 30th Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) and EntertainmentPulse, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), concluded successfully today, drawing about 8,000 industry professionals from 53 countries and regions. The events, held over four days, featured over 790 exhibitors from a record high 38 countries and regions, including emerging markets such as Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, and mature markets like Canada, France, Italy, Korea, the UK, and the US. This highlights Hong Kong's position as a center for cultural and artistic exchange.

FILMART advanced international collaboration, serving as one of the region's most influential film and television trading platforms. First-time exhibitor COL International Group from Singapore noted that FILMART helps companies expand international networks, with General Manager Timothy Oh stating he met partners from Turkey, the UK, the US, and Brazil. Sachitha Kalingamudali of Mogo Studios from Sri Lanka said FILMART exceeded expectations, connecting with distributors from many countries. Myanmar's aTwentyThree used FILMART as its first move into the international market, founder Arker Soe Oo connecting with US and European distributors. UK buyer Bizhan Tong commented that FILMART is one of the most effective platforms for cross-border collaboration, forming a new strategic partnership with MOFAC.

A highlight was the AI Hub, showcasing leading AI and technology companies. Zhihan Zhang of Daogu Culture Limited remarked that FILMART gathers global professionals and facilitates understanding of client needs across markets. The newly established AI Academy, supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency and the Film Development Fund, offered 19 workshops equipping professionals with AI skills.

Producers Connect united over 100 producers from Hong Kong and worldwide, providing a cross-regional platform for collaboration. Golden Globe-winning producer Janet Yang noted that language is mattering less to audiences globally. Producer and director Peter Chan mentioned the importance of diversifying investors and partners across regions.

EntertainmentPulse and the Digital Entertainment Summit featured 48 forums and events, addressing AI, streaming strategies, short dramas, and co-production trends. Justin Deimen of Goldfinch International emphasized the need for creative IP valuation. The FILMART Online IP Catalogue, featuring over 2,200 creative IP projects, extends networking until 27 April, further consolidating Hong Kong's position as Asia's film and entertainment trading hub.
