Fitzroy Minerals Inc. (TSXV: FTZ, OTCQB: FTZFF) announced that Expert Geophysics Surveys Inc. has commenced a 750 line-kilometre mobile magnetotelluric (MobileMT) heliborne survey at the Caballos Copper Project in Valparaiso, Chile. The survey is expected to cover the entire property within two days, with interpreted results anticipated in March 2026. This geophysical technique is designed to identify subsurface geologic structures, alteration halos, and contrasting lithologies, aiding in the exploration for copper mineralization.
MobileMT is a leading technology that provides a three-dimensional image of subsurface conductivity. It is complemented by VLF-EM data, which offers near-surface electromagnetic information, enhancing resolution of shallow features. The combined methods should reveal deep-seated faults, lithological contacts, and structures controlling mineral systems from the surface to depths of approximately 1 km to 2 km, depending on local geology. This capability is crucial for tracing mineralized breccias previously intersected in drilling and for vectoring toward the origin of these breccias, which contain clasts of mineralized porphyry rocks.
Merlin Marr-Johnson, President and CEO of Fitzroy Minerals, stated: "We expect the MobileMT data will provide a three-dimensional image of the Caballos Project area, including under the younger volcanic rocks to the east. We hope the survey will assist us in tracing the outline of the mineralized breccias already intersected through drilling. Further, we hope the survey helps us to vector towards the origin of the mineralized breccias that themselves contain clasts of mineralized porphyry rocks. MobileMT is known for identifying areas of electrically conductive sulphides potentially linked to mineralized porphyry intrusive centres, and resistive bodies representative of intrusions."
The Caballos Copper Project is part of Fitzroy Minerals' portfolio focused on copper assets in the Americas. The Company also holds the Buen Retiro Copper Project near Copiapo, Chile, the Polimet Gold-Copper-Silver project in Valparaiso, the Taquetren Gold Project in Argentina, and the Caribou Project in British Columbia, Canada. Fitzroy Minerals is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol FTZ and on the OTCQB under FTZFF.
This survey marks a significant step in advancing the Caballos Project, as it aims to identify conductive sulphides and resistive intrusions that may host copper mineralization. The results will guide future drilling and exploration efforts, potentially enhancing the project's value. For more information, visit the Company's website at www.fitzroyminerals.com.
