The Flood Law Firm, in partnership with Middlesex United Way, spearheaded a countywide food drive on August 5 that collected an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food for 13 food pantries and food banks across Middlesex County. The initiative, dubbed “Flood the Food Banks,” was part of the Middlesex Pantry Project, an ongoing effort to bolster local food assistance resources.
The one-day drive saw residents donate staples such as canned vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna and chicken, and macaroni and cheese at participating grocery stores and community locations. The contributions were distributed among pantries throughout the county, with two smaller direct drop-offs to local organizations.
The event underscored the importance of year-round donations. While holiday giving often spikes, food pantries serve families and individuals in need throughout the year. By coordinating a summer drive, organizers aimed to replenish supplies during a typically lean period. “Giving back to the communities where we live, work, and serve our clients is an important part of who we are,” said Brian Flood, co-founder of The Flood Law Firm. “Flood the Food Banks brought our team together with Middlesex United Way and community members for a meaningful effort that will help support families and individuals throughout Middlesex County.”
The food drive also provided an opportunity for The Flood Law Firm’s staff to volunteer and engage with residents. The firm served as the presenting partner, raising awareness and encouraging participation. The event received local media coverage, including reporting from WTNH and a sponsored feature highlighting the partnership.
The success of the drive demonstrates the power of community collaboration. In addition to the thousands of pounds of food, the effort generated hundreds of dollars in financial contributions, further supporting local organizations.
