Julia Pieri, a student at Florida State University, has been awarded the Community Impact Through Animal Service Scholarship by Blakeley Car Accident & Personal Injury Lawyers. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional commitment to helping animals in their communities. Pieri's story of caring for a rescue dog named Zeke touched the hearts of the selection committee.
Pieri took over the responsibility of fostering Zeke after her friend, who was his original foster parent, fell ill. She provided the stability and care that Zeke needed during a critical transition period. "Helping care for Zeke also showed me how important foster networks are for rescue animals," she said. "Foster dogs rely on stability, routine, and kindness while they transition from uncertain pasts to hopeful futures. By stepping in while my friend was sick, I was able to help maintain that stability for him."
Beyond her animal welfare efforts, Pieri is pursuing dual degrees in Accounting and Economics with a minor in Commercial Entrepreneurship. She is actively involved in pageants and advocates for breast cancer research. Additionally, she volunteers with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, providing free tax preparation services to those in need.
Pieri has also laid a strong foundation for her professional career. She spent the summer of 2026 as a Receivable Intern at SBA Communications and plans to join CohnReznick as a Tax Intern in 2027. After graduating, she intends to pursue a Master's degree and sit for the CPA exam, with the goal of specializing in tax and public accounting.
