Frontieras North America and Western Fuels have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop a mine-mouth FASForm processing facility at the Dry Fork Mine near Gillette, Wyoming. The proposed facility would use Frontieras' patented FASForm technology to convert coal into clean fuels and chemicals, potentially creating a new value stream for coal in a transitioning energy market.
The MOU outlines long-term agreements covering a facility site, coal feedstock supply of up to 2.7 million tons annually initially, with potential expansion to 5.4 million tons at full build-out, and Western Fuels' purchase of ultra-low-sulfur diesel produced at the facility. Western Fuels Association may also provide transportation capabilities to move FASForm product streams.
This initiative advances Frontieras North America's strategy to scale its FASForm Solid Carbon Fractionation technology across Wyoming and the West through mine-mouth facilities and its FASGEN co-location platform for coal-fired power plants. The FASForm process is a continuous, closed-loop system that converts coal into products including FASCarbon, ultra-low-sulfur diesel, and naphtha.
