FWD Group Holdings Limited (FWD Group) commemorated its 13th anniversary by unveiling a series of charitable grants designed to support more than 13,000 people in communities across Asia. Since its establishment in 2013 with the goal of transforming the life insurance industry, FWD has expanded from its initial operations in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Thailand to become a pan-Asian life and health insurer serving millions of customers across 10 markets. A significant milestone was reached in July last year when the company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the stock code 1828.
Huynh Thanh Phong, Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of FWD Group, emphasized the company's broader mission: "At FWD Group, changing the way people feel about insurance is about much more than looking after our customers – it’s also about supporting the communities where we operate. These 13 grants are a meaningful way to give back to the people and places that have been part of our journey. Together with trusted community partners, we hope to make a real difference in people’s lives, while also bringing our caring value to life through employee volunteering."
The 13 grants will fund initiatives across the region, focusing on financial literacy, career readiness, entrepreneurship, health and wellbeing, and community recovery. In Hong Kong SAR, the JA SparktheDream Wellness Programme with Junior Achievement Hong Kong will be extended through interactive workshops and family activities, equipping 2,600 primary school students with social, emotional, and financial skills. Additionally, a football-based programme with Save the Children Hong Kong will strengthen the wellbeing and resilience of 200 children and 80 caregivers affected by the Tai Po fire. Plan International Hong Kong will lead psychosocial support and community-building initiatives for over 6,500 students, parents, and teachers to advance long-term recovery in Tai Po.
In Cambodia, JCI Mekong will provide financial education workshops, expert-led discussions, and digital learning content to equip 200 young people with practical money management skills. In Indonesia, KUMPUL will partner on InnovateHer Academy 4.0 to empower 10 female entrepreneurs with mentorship and business readiness skills. Japan's Hands On Tokyo will promote inclusion through football clinics for over 15 visually impaired individuals. In Malaysia, GivingHub will support 170 low-income families with health education and financial literacy workshops, along with 100 cancer screening and consultation sessions. The Philippines' Junior Achievement will help 100 university students transition into the workforce with financial literacy and career readiness training.
Singapore's Club Rainbow will host a carnival for 50 children with chronic illnesses and their caregivers, fostering inclusion and community spirit. In Thailand, the Pimali Foundation will extend hospitality training scholarships for seven disadvantaged youth, and Junior Achievement Thailand will expand the JA SparktheDream programme to train 30 educators in financial literacy. Vietnam's Startup Vietnam Foundation and Dear Our Community will empower 800 students through workshops and debate competitions, while the Little Roses Foundation will provide 76 computers to schools in Khanh Hoa Province, enabling 1,800 students to continue learning after severe flooding.
These initiatives reflect FWD's commitment to giving back to the communities it serves. The company, which operates in some of the fastest-growing insurance markets in the world, continues to innovate with a customer-led and tech-enabled approach.
