DUSSELDORF, GERMANY - Gerresheimer, an innovative systems and solutions provider and global partner to the pharma, biotech, and cosmetics industries, has published its first voluntary separate Non-financial Report for the 2025 financial year, aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The audited report transparently details the Group’s sustainability performance, including a 31% reduction in scope 1 and scope 2 CO2e emissions compared to the 2019 baseline, an increase in renewable electricity usage to 54% of total consumption, and a 63% improvement in the lost time incident rate (LTIR).
The company has also raised its CO2e reduction target for scope 1 and scope 2 emissions to 52% by 2030 and, for the first time, supplemented it with Scope 3 targets. These targets have been externally validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). According to Wolf Lehmann, CFO of Gerresheimer AG, the company aims to support customers on their path toward increased sustainability through both sustainable product options and transparent reporting. Gerresheimer’s sustainability management continues to receive high marks from external evaluators. EcoVadis awarded the company a Gold rating in 2025, with a score of 78 out of 100, placing it among the top 4% of all evaluated companies and the top 1% in its industry. In the CDP rating, Gerresheimer achieved an “A-” in climate and “Leadership” status for the second consecutive year, scoring above both the global average (B) and the industry average (C). More than 22,100 companies participated in the 2025 CDP assessment.
The company’s ambitious CO2e reduction targets include a 52% cut in scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 2030 from a 2019 base year. Additionally, by the end of 2029, 65% of Gerresheimer’s suppliers (by spend on goods and services) are expected to set science-based climate targets. By 2034, the company aims to reduce emissions intensity relative to operating profit in selected scope 3 categories by 64% compared to the 2023 base year. Gerresheimer has been disclosing relevant data on the EcoVadis platform and as part of the CDP rating annually since 2011.
With 39 production sites in Europe, America, and Asia, Gerresheimer generated revenues of around EUR 2.3bn in 2025 and employs over 13,000 people. The company’s commitment to measuring and managing climate protection according to recognized standards underscores its role as a global partner in the pharma, biotech, and cosmetics industries.
