Glenview Studio Owner Kristin Milito Expands Into Training for Photographers

Kristin Milito, founder of Kristin Milito Photography, is broadening her role from studio owner to educator with a second run of her live online business training for photographers. The program, From Overlooked to Booked, will take place from October 20 to 22, 2026, following an initial session held September 22 to 24. This move signals a strategic shift for Milito, who has spent 13 years building a half-million-dollar newborn and maternity portrait business in Glenview, Illinois, just outside Chicago. By sharing her methods, she aims to address a common frustration among photographers who struggle to convert their skills into consistent bookings.

According to Milito, many photographers respond to slow inquiries by shooting more, posting more, and lowering prices, but see little improvement. She identifies three root causes: an unclear niche, an inconsistent portfolio, and a social media profile that fails to turn visits into inquiries. The October program is structured around these areas. "I see so many talented photographers doing everything they've been told to do and still not succeeding," Milito says. "With live coaching instead of just being told what to do, they can finally start getting booked." This approach matters because it targets the business side of photography, an aspect often overlooked in an industry saturated with technical training.

The three-day event runs each day at 12pm CT inside a private Facebook group, with sessions lasting about an hour. Day one focuses on niche selection, explaining why generalist photographers may find it harder to stand out. Day two covers portfolio consistency, showing how individual images can deter desired clients. Day three addresses social media profiles, including bios, calls to action, and converting profile visits into inquiries. Milito emphasizes that the material reflects the methods she uses weekly in her own studio, providing practical, real-world insights rather than abstract theory.

Milito's credentials lend credibility to the training. She is a featured member of the National Association of Portrait and Child Photographers, holds mastery certificates in baby and family photography, and was named one of the best Chicago newborn photographers by Expertise from 2021 through 2024. Her competition work has earned multiple honors in the AFNS Award, an international newborn and maternity photography competition. Her studio specializes in timeless fine art portraiture, working with a team of associate photographers, and she still personally meets every client for their ordering appointment. This hands-on experience underscores the practical value of her teaching.

The October sessions are free to attend, with recordings emailed to registrants who cannot join live. Photographers can register through the program page. The implications of this expansion are significant: by offering accessible, live coaching, Milito provides a roadmap for photographers to build profitable, clearly positioned studios. In an industry where many struggle to gain traction, her program could help shift the focus from mere image-making to sustainable business practices, ultimately elevating the profession as a whole.
