The hep global Group has completed the project development phase for its largest solar project in Germany to date, a 35.7 MWp solar park named “Buckelacker” in Eppingen, near its headquarters in Guglingen. The milestone marks the transition to construction for a project that combines local development with the company’s international experience, according to a release distributed via NEWMEDIAWIRE.
Spanning roughly 30 hectares, the Buckelacker solar park is designed to generate approximately 38 million kilowatt-hours of solar power annually. That output is theoretically enough to meet the annual energy needs of about 10,800 households. The electricity will be fed into the regional power grid through a newly constructed substation at Hohenstein, ensuring that the renewable energy contributes directly to local supply.
A key feature of the project is an integrated green energy storage system with a capacity of 20.3 MWh and an output of 10 MW. This battery system temporarily stores solar power and feeds it into the grid during periods of higher electricity prices, increasing the economic benefits of the generated electricity and expanding the technical applications of the solar park. The combination of solar generation and storage reflects a growing trend in renewable energy projects to enhance grid stability and maximize revenue.
For hep global, the project holds particular significance because it is located in the immediate vicinity of its headquarters. “This project is something special for us. It combines the development of a local solar project with the experience we have gained in various markets around the world,” said Benjamin Brasch, Manager of Project Development for South-West Germany at hep global. “The fact that we have developed our largest German solar project to date in the immediate vicinity of our headquarters also underscores our long-term commitment to the region.”
The successful completion of the development phase represents an important milestone for the company, which specializes in solar projects and battery energy storage systems. Construction work, now beginning, will be coordinated by ZaberSolar GmbH, with completion expected in the first half of 2027. The project not only strengthens hep global’s domestic portfolio but also demonstrates how internationally gained expertise can be applied to regional projects, potentially serving as a model for future developments in Germany and beyond.
hep global, an owner-managed company from Baden-Württemberg, has been active for more than 15 years and employs around 120 people worldwide, with subsidiaries in Germany, Italy, Poland, the USA, Canada, and Japan. Its strategic focus on greenfield developments and the integration of battery energy storage systems positions it to capitalize on the energy transition. The Buckelacker project exemplifies this strategy, blending large-scale solar generation with storage to enhance both environmental and economic outcomes.
