The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is set to host five major exhibitions from August 13 to 17 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, under the theme “Live Well. Stay Well.” The events include the 36th Food Expo, 10th Beauty & Wellness Expo, and 12th Home Delights Expo, alongside the 4th Food Expo PRO and 17th Hong Kong International Tea Fair. These fairs will bring together more than 1,850 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions, offering a comprehensive platform for sourcing, business networking, and retail experiences.
This year marks a significant expansion in international participation. For the first time, the trade fairs will feature exhibitors from all ASEAN member states, including debut appearances from Brunei and Timor-Leste. Additionally, Colombia and Greece are participating for the first time. The HKTDC’s Associate Executive Director, Smilely Lam, highlighted that Hong Kong serves as an ideal gateway for food companies to access the Chinese Mainland and global markets. The Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China has also organized delegations from multiple provinces to showcase premium agricultural products, leveraging Hong Kong as a launchpad for overseas expansion.
Food Expo PRO introduces a new “Meat Zone” and an expanded “Coffee Zone,” responding to growing market demand for premium meats and specialty coffee. The Meat Zone features Korean exhibitors with frozen marinated barbecue products and a Hong Kong brand offering halal-certified beef tendon balls. The Coffee Zone includes exhibitors from Yunnan, Colombia, Macao, Myanmar, Thailand, and the United States, highlighting a wider range of beans and brewing equipment. The “Food Science and Technology Zone” will showcase alternative foods and intelligent food-service robots, while the Food Tech Symposium explores how emerging technologies drive innovation in the food industry.
The Hong Kong International Tea Fair returns, fully open to both trade buyers and the public. Highlights include rare first-flush Kunlu Mountain purple bud pu'er tea from Yunnan, white tea from Laos, premium tea from Kenya, and Ceylon tea from Sri Lanka. New pavilions include the Chinese Mainland Matcha Pavilion from Guizhou and Zhejiang, and the Yixing Zisha Teaware Pavilion. The “Tea Lifestyle” zone introduces innovative tea products like sparkling tea and tea-based cocktails, demonstrating how tea culture integrates into modern living. The Hong Kong International Tea Culture Forum will explore opportunities for internationalizing Chinese tea brands.
The Beauty & Wellness Expo introduces the “Stay Relax” zone with red-light therapy capsules and medicated wellness balms, alongside the popular “Scentsation” zone featuring the Xuelei Fragrance Museum’s interactive scent experience. The Home Delights Expo focuses on quality sleep and smart living, with the Sleep Health Association launching “Go Sleep Exp” and HKT offering smart home appliances at discounts up to 70%.
The International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine and Health Products (ICMCM), co-organized by the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association (MCMIA) and HKTDC, will be held from August 13 to 15. This year’s theme is “Clinical Translation, Regulatory Policies and Global Innovative Pathways of Traditional Medicine.” The conference has expanded to three days with over 30 speakers from various countries, focusing on regulatory frameworks and industry practices. It will be held in a hybrid format to facilitate broader participation.
To celebrate the HKTDC’s 60th anniversary, special promotions include free admission before noon for visitors with designated leaflets (limited to 600 per day), exhibitor offers themed around “6,” and daily lucky draws with prizes worth over HK$1 million. The “Smart Bidding” session will allow visitors to bid for products starting at 10% of the original price. E-tickets are available through various platforms, and admission can also be purchased on-site using mobile payment methods.
These events underscore Hong Kong’s role as a global trade hub, particularly in the wellness and lifestyle sectors. With the growing emphasis on health and well-being, the fairs provide a significant opportunity for businesses to tap into emerging trends and for visitors to experience the latest innovations. The inclusion of diverse international exhibitors and the focus on holistic wellness reflect broader market shifts, making these events crucial for industry stakeholders and consumers alike.
