The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) announced the opening of the 12th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show at AsiaWorld-Expo, running from March 2 to 6, and the 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 4 to 8. Together, these twin shows reinforce Hong Kong's position as the world's largest one-stop jewellery marketplace, according to Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of HKTDC.
This year's event brings together some 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions, with 70% coming from outside Hong Kong. The shows feature an extensive spectrum of product categories, including diamonds, gemstones, pearls, finished jewellery, designer brands, mounting components, packaging, and identification technologies. The Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show highlights more than 20 pavilions, including the debut of the Zhushan Turquoise Pavilion from Hubei Province, China, showcasing natural turquoise from the Qinba Mountains. The Tanzanite Foundation and International Colored Gemstone Association also return, offering rare gemstones.
Key product zones include the Hall of Fine Diamonds, Treasures of Nature, and Treasures of Ocean. Notable exhibitors include Arihant Star (HK) Limited, showcasing a fancy intense pink VVS2 diamond; Emco Gem Inc., presenting an 11-carat cushion-cut Colombian emerald; and Alain Boite S.A.S., exhibiting a freshwater pearl strand. The GIA Hong Kong Laboratory Limited launches a new coloured gemstone report at booth AWE 9--M03, providing clearer information on stone type, processing, and origin. Another laboratory, Hong Kong Limited, promotes origin-tracing technologies to enhance transparency.
Industry seminars and events will explore market trends. On March 2, De Beers will analyze the natural diamond market in a seminar titled "Diamonds Forever Forward: Igniting Desire for Natural Diamonds." On March 4, Gem Lab Gübelin Gem Lab Limited will discuss sustainable gem practices and the integration of scientific testing with blockchain records. On March 5, a special promotion conference will highlight Zhushan turquoise mining and craftsmanship.
The International Jewellery Show, opening Wednesday, will feature 20 group pavilions, including the debut of the World Gold Council's Hard Pure Gold Pavilion and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion. The Designer Galleria will showcase about 50 designer exhibitors, while the Hall of Fame has expanded by over 40%, offering more international jewellery brands. Free shuttle buses will connect AsiaWorld-Expo and urban areas, including the HKCEC. Special measures for Muslim buyers include dedicated prayer rooms, shuttle buses to mosques, and lists of Muslim-friendly hotels and restaurants.
To enrich the sourcing experience, HKTDC has partnered with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to offer exclusive buyer privileges on dining, air tickets, and hotels. The twin shows adopt an Exhibition+ hybrid format, with AI-powered Click2Match providing online business matching from February 23 to March 13. Physical buyers can use Scan2Match to scan exhibitor QR codes for continued discussions online. Buyers can also pre-register via the HKTDC Marketplace App.
