The 52nd HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, 17th HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, and 24th Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, running through January 15. The three fairs, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, bring together over 2,600 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, including first-time participants from Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Norway.
A key highlight is the debut of the 'Pop & Play' pavilion, which showcases approximately 150 intellectual properties (IPs) including B.Duck, Hot Toys, LAURA, and threezero. The pavilion features fair premieres and global limited-edition collectibles, such as MOMOLAND's debut dolls (Booth: CH-F16), TUTU MOKEY figurines limited to 100 pieces worldwide (Booth: CH-F05), and CM Concepts Limited's Mazinger Z Playing Cards (Booth: CH-G06), limited to 1,500 sets. The pavilion is open to both trade buyers and the public, aiming to tap into the growing 'kidult' and toy collecting markets.
Several product trends are emerging from the fairs. The 'Happy Ageing' label, introduced at the Toys & Games Fair, helps buyers identify toys for seniors, including color-sorting exercises that train finger muscles and companion plush toys that alleviate loneliness. Sustainable products are also in focus, with over 400 exhibitors using the 'Green Solutions' label, a 10% increase from 2025. Exhibitors showcase eco-friendly toys such as the Beach Life OBP Material Beach Funnel Set made from ocean-bound plastic (Booth: 1C-D02) and FSC-certified baby push walker toys (Booth: 3F-G26).
Educational toys that combine learning with play are prominent, including a Canadarm toy that lets children assemble robotic arms (Booth: 1E-C35) and a 2-in-1 Digital Microscope & Telescope (Booth: 1E-A02). Korean film and TV-related products are a new focus, with a replica of the Gonggi Tossing Game from Squid Game Season 2 (Booth: 1E-B16) and the Pinkfong Baby Shark Alphabet Learning Bus (Booth: 1CON-044).
The 'Pop & Play' pavilion also offers interactive activities, including photo opportunities with mascots Ah Pop and Ah Play, and appearances by Hot Toys' giant Marvel, Disney, and Star Wars statues. Renowned artists such as b.wing, Kenny Wong (creator of Molly), and Steven Choi will share their insights through seminars and autograph sessions. On January 14, a seminar titled 'Explosive Growth of IP Economy: from Local Success to Global Reach' will feature Maxim Wang, Head of Toys Category at Alibaba 1688, and Leung Man Lai Lily, CEO of Nikopicto Limited.
The Baby Products Fair features expanded 'World of Strollers and Gear' and 'ODM Strollers and Gear' zones, with about 230 exhibitors. The Stationery & School Supplies Fair welcomes New Zealand exhibitors for the first time, showcasing optical magnifiers. The Asia Toys & Games Forum, themed 'Empowering the Toy Industry for Global Success,' opens tomorrow with speakers from Euromonitor International, Disney Consumer Products, and SGS Hong Kong.
Under the EXHIBITION+ model, the fairs combine physical exhibitions with the Click2Match smart-matching platform for online business meetings, accessible from January 5 to 22. Buyers can also use the Scan2Match function to bookmark exhibitors and engage post-fair. The fairs are expected to foster cross-regional trade cooperation and create business opportunities for the global toy, baby product, and stationery industries.
