The inaugural Chinatown Creator Awards, held August 27 at COYA Living, drew an over-capacity crowd, underscoring the growing influence of digital creators on Las Vegas Chinatown's culture and commerce. The private reception, co-hosted by the luxury apartment community and ChinatownVegas.com, honored 20 photographers, videographers, food personalities, and storytellers whose work has spotlighted the Spring Mountain Road corridor.
Emceed by writer and film director Jason Harris, the event recognized honorees in five groups, mirroring their introduction in the 'This Week in Chinatown' series. Among those present were @lasvegasfill, @brandonfromvegas, @wheretogovegas, @therubyontherocks, @baileyzeats, @withlove_christine, @tiny_pennguin, @giselliii93, @tiarappgyo, @antonio_loves_wings, @heydonnah, @ceslynne, @shekuni_lv, and @studiosealv. Each received a custom plaque commemorating their contributions.
Joe Muscaglione, founder of ChinatownVegas.com and Chinatown Amplify, noted that these creators have done more than post about restaurants; they have helped the world see why Chinatown attracts millions of visits each year. The event showcased the corridor's culinary talent, with chefs and restaurants offering exclusive bites. Sparrow + Wolf and Lamaii, both fresh off MICHELIN Guide recommendations, served dishes like wood-fired Isaan sausage and garlicky crispy prawn. Chef Steve Kestler of Aroma Latin American Cocina presented a citrus-forward Chinatown Ceviche, while Shanghai Taste contributed an abalone and sea cucumber meatball. Double Zero Pie & Pub debuted its New York-style pizza, and China Mama offered tangy orange chicken. Crystina Nguyen of Mama's House × Durango Social Club presented rice dumplings, and O.Onigiri served a tri-pack of unagi, wagyu, and shrimp tempura. Noodlehead's beef rolls were passed throughout the evening, and Charismatic Yo, Mochi! founder Santy Luangpraseuth offered crème brûlée mochi donuts. Chef Yuka of Moignet Café added mini chiffon sandos, and Milk Bread kept tables stocked with cheese and guava bread.
Beverage pairings came from Paul Ellis, who poured wine and champagne with a blue cheese flight, while The Alchemist Bar & Restaurant provided cocktails and zero-proof drinks. Notable guests included rock photographer David Plastik and music publicist Mitch Schneider, whose career spans David Bowie, Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, and Tom Petty. Schneider described the event on Facebook as a "meaningful event" honoring creators "who've helped put Las Vegas Chinatown on the map," praising the "taste bud-awakening curated bites."
The event highlighted the creators' role in building awareness for the corridor, which sees approximately 23.9 million visits annually and is home to 248 verified sit-down restaurants. Muscaglione emphasized that these creators have helped transform individual businesses into destinations, making Chinatown one of Las Vegas's most closely watched neighborhoods. The over-capacity attendance and broad participation established a strong foundation for future awards.
ChinatownVegas.com is presenting complete coverage in a special edition of This Week in Chinatown, with a written report and companion video episode. Beginning with subsequent editions, the series will release together every Monday, continuing to document the corridor's growth.
