The Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth (JASDFW) celebrated a successful 11th Annual Sun & Star Golf Classic on November 14, 2025, at Bear Creek Golf Club in Dallas, Texas. The event brought together business leaders, community members, and friends of Japan and Texas for a day of golf and camaraderie, raising funds for JASDFW's cultural and educational programs.
Winning teams included Orix Corporation USA taking first place, SMBC securing second place, and Dan Sinawat of AI Connex winning the Mega Putt Putting Contest. Barron Bryant of KPMG, LLP achieved the longest drive, and Joe Bunch of Barnes & Thornburg, LLP was closest to the pin. The event's success was made possible by sponsors such as Toyota North America, Zeal IT Consultants, City of Irving, Plano EDC, ORIX Corporation USA, SMBC Group, Fortinet, Panasonic, Technologent, Toyota Tsusho Systems (Thailand) Co., Ltd., First Class Imports, MUFG, KPMG, and Barnes & Thornburg LLP.
Lawrence P. Howorth, Chair of the Board of Directors of JASDFW, highlighted the importance of the event: "Each year, this event reminds us how much can be accomplished when our business and cultural communities come together. It's not just about a day of golf—it's about building bridges, creating opportunity, and celebrating the shared spirit of collaboration that defines the Japan–Texas relationship."
The funds raised support JASDFW's ongoing programs, including the Japan America Friendship Night at the Texas Rangers, the annual Mochitsuki New Year's Celebration, and the Japan-America Grassroots Summit. These initiatives foster cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and North Texas. Looking ahead, JASDFW is planning its upcoming programs and the 2026 Sun & Star Legacy Award Dinner, which will feature Texas Governor Greg Abbott as a special guest.
JASDFW extends its gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers for their contributions. The Society continues to strengthen the partnership between Japan and Texas through its cultural, business, and educational programming. For more information, visit www.jasdfw.org.
