Jenner Law has announced Bella Ramirez as one of its 2026 Make a Difference Scholarship winners, highlighting her exceptional commitment to community advocacy and public service. Ramirez, a first-year student at Cardozo School of Law in New York City, graduated cum laude from Boston University in 2025 and is originally from South Florida. The scholarship, which supports academically excelling students who are also focused on making a real difference in their communities and the world, underscores the firm's belief in the power of positive action.
Ramirez's advocacy work began in her teen years. During her freshman year of high school, a neighboring school was struck by tragedy when a shooting left 17 people dead. In response, Ramirez organized a county-wide rally and helped register hundreds of voters. Her early engagement in civic action demonstrated a deep commitment to effecting change, which she has continued to pursue.
Initially on a path toward a career in journalism, Ramirez interned in the Investigations Department of NBC News, where she helped uncover federal student aid fraud. The experience clarified her desire to fight for positive change more directly, prompting her to shift to law school. That decision reflects a broader trend of young advocates seeking legal tools to address systemic issues, and it positions Ramirez to make an impact in the legal field.
At Cardozo School of Law, Ramirez is heavily involved in her community. She participates in the Gates Scholar Program for first-generation students and the Public Service Scholars Program. She is a member of the American Constitution Society and the Public Interest Law Students Association, serves as a 1L representative for the Latin American Law Students Association, and is a senator on the Student Bar Association. Additionally, she is in training with the Unemployment Action Center, which helps unemployed individuals secure the benefits they need. Her extensive involvement illustrates her dedication to public service and her ability to lead across multiple organizations.
The Make a Difference Scholarship is part of Jenner Law's broader commitment to community engagement. In addition to the scholarship, the firm runs the Jenner Law Donor Fund, which supports charitable organizations focused on issues such as animal welfare, civil rights, women's safety, healthcare, veterans, and the abolition of food insecurity. By recognizing students like Bella Ramirez, Jenner Law not only provides financial support but also amplifies the work of emerging leaders who are tackling pressing social challenges. This announcement matters because it highlights the importance of investing in the next generation of advocates and underscores how law firms can play a role in fostering positive social change.
