Julius Baer Taps Reckitt's Francis Hoefman as Chief Human Resources Officer

Julius Baer Group has named Francis Hoefman as its new Chief Human Resources Officer and a member of the Global Wealth Management Committee, effective 11 January 2027. She will succeed Guido Ruoss, who is leaving the bank after 18 years, the last 11 of which he led the Group’s HR function. The appointment, announced via NEWMEDIAWIRE, signals Julius Baer’s intent to sharpen its talent strategy amid fierce competition for wealth management expertise.

Hoefman joins from Reckitt, the global consumer goods company with about 36,000 employees across more than 80 countries. Most recently, she oversaw global talent, leadership development, category capability, and the R&D people agenda, leading an HR organisation of roughly 500 professionals. She also headed HR for Reckitt’s Hygiene and Health divisions and held senior roles at H.J. Heinz and Mars Inc. Her background combines deep HR leadership with legal training—a Master of Laws from Maastricht University and a post-master specialisation in Labour Law from Grotius Academy.

Why does this matter? For Julius Baer, people are the core asset. As a leading Swiss wealth management group with CHF 547 billion in assets under management and a presence in around 25 countries, the bank depends on attracting and retaining top talent to serve sophisticated private clients. CEO Stefan Bollinger emphasised that the search was global and cross-sector: “Our people are our most valuable asset, so we set out to find the very best CHRO, regardless of sector or geography.” He added that Hoefman brings “significant experience as a global HR leader at a company renowned for developing high performing teams, a growth mindset in a highly competitive sector, and an entrepreneurial ownership culture that drives business results.”

Hoefman’s mandate will be to drive Julius Baer’s people agenda, unlock the potential of employees across the Group, and ensure the bank remains an employer of choice. Her experience at Reckitt—shaping leadership, talent, and culture while strengthening organisational capabilities—directly aligns with Julius Baer’s need to foster a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial culture. The appointment also underscores the bank’s commitment to maintaining its premium brand and competitive edge in global wealth management, where human capital is the ultimate differentiator. The transition appears carefully managed. Bollinger thanked Ruoss for his “many lasting contributions” and for his “dedication and care for our people,” noting that Ruoss will ensure a seamless handover before pursuing an opportunity outside the bank. That continuity should help Hoefman settle quickly and begin executing on the bank’s talent priorities. With her track record at Reckitt and earlier at Heinz and Mars, she is well placed to reinforce Julius Baer’s reputation as a magnet for prime talent—an essential ingredient for sustaining its leadership in wealth management.
