KIT WAN STUDIOS, a multidisciplinary design and visual art studio led by Hong Kong-born creative director and visual artist Kit Wan, will headline the CENTRESTAGE ELITES runway on September 2 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The show, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), marks the grand opening of CENTRESTAGE, the annual highlight of the Asian fashion scene running from September 2 to 5.
The studio will present its forthcoming collection that fuses sci-fi inspirations with mechanical aesthetics, blurring the boundaries between collectable and wearable fashion. Known for merging manga and mythology with bespoke metalwork and cinematic garment design, KIT WAN STUDIOS' unique "abstract reality" approach spans costume design to permanent museum exhibits. This year's CENTRESTAGE ELITES is acclaimed for its innovative stage design and performance costumes, integral to Hong Kong's growing "Mega Events Economy."
Kit Wan, who first majored in knitwear design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, has expanded his footprint globally, working in Amsterdam, London, and Oslo. He is the first fashion designer to receive the "Young Artist Award" from the Norwegian government, and his creations are part of the permanent collection of the National Museum of Norway. In 2025, the studio was selected by Fashion Asia Hong Kong as the sole Hong Kong representative among its "2025 10 Asian Designers to Watch."
The studio's collaborative roster includes local superstars such as Aaron Kwok, Hins Cheung, and Miriam Yeung, as well as international figures like Alan Cumming and Teddy Swims. By designing "stage armour" for artists at the Grammy Awards and Eurovision, Kit Wan brings Hong Kong design to top-tier global stages while remaining rooted in Cantopop, injecting vibrant vitality into Hong Kong's entertainment industry.
Headlining CENTRESTAGE ELITES marks a homecoming for the studio. "It feels like 'THE' moment for my work to come from my clearest voice," Kit Wan said. "This collection is from my heart, my voice – so completely – and I am excited to share that with my hometown of Hong Kong." The artist will also lead a sharing session during CENTRESTAGE, offering insights from his creative journey.
Marking its 11th edition in 2026, CENTRESTAGE reinforces Hong Kong's position as Asia's fashion hub and a gateway connecting global design talent. The fair will feature thematic zones, fashion parades, and industry seminars exploring sustainable fashion and AI in design. Further details will be announced at a press conference on August 20.
