MAX Power Mining (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) is deepening its collaboration with the Petroleum Technology Research Center (PTRC) and the University of Regina to advance Canada’s first Natural Hydrogen drill program. The company is hosting a technical working session today at the U of R Innovation Center, followed by a field visit to the Lawson drill site near Central Butte, Saskatchewan, which is home to this pioneering program along the 475-kilometer Genesis Trend.

The session, led by Chief Geoscientist Steve Halabura, brings together researchers from PTRC, the University of Regina, the Saskatchewan Geological Survey, and the Colorado School of Mines, including Dr. Yaoguo Li. The goal is to deepen the understanding of Saskatchewan’s naturally occurring hydrogen systems and identify new research and commercialization opportunities. This collaboration underscores the potential of natural hydrogen as a clean, low-carbon energy source that could play a significant role in the global energy transition.

Natural hydrogen, often referred to as “white” or “gold” hydrogen, is generated naturally through geological processes and has attracted increasing interest as a potential zero-carbon fuel. Unlike green hydrogen, which requires electrolysis powered by renewable energy, or blue hydrogen, which relies on fossil fuels with carbon capture, natural hydrogen can be extracted directly from underground reservoirs. MAX Power’s focus on this emerging sector positions it as a first mover in a rapidly growing industry.

The company has built a dominant district-scale land position with approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits covering prime exploration ground prospective for large volume accumulations of natural hydrogen. High-priority initial drill target areas have been identified for commencement of drilling in Q4 2025. This development is significant because it could unlock a new domestic energy source for Canada, reducing reliance on imported fuels and supporting decarbonization goals.

MAX Power is also advancing its portfolio of critical mineral properties in the United States and Canada, highlighted by a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona. The company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident in its multi-commodity approach, targeting both natural hydrogen and critical minerals essential for the clean energy economy.
