MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has announced that its commercial validation drilling program at the Lawson Complex in Saskatchewan has advanced to the third well, Lawson 3, following the successful casing of Lawson 2. This development underscores the company's commitment to evaluating the scale and continuity of what could become the world's first large-scale commercial natural hydrogen system.
The Lawson 3 well is being drilled approximately 2.2 kilometers east of Lawson 2 and 1.2 kilometers south of the original Lawson 1 discovery. This positioning is strategic, as it will help triangulate the deposit for geological modeling by GLJ Ltd. The data collected from the first two wells will be integrated to determine the optimal location for Lawson 4, with completion testing and a potential production well planned to follow.
Lawson 2, which reached a total depth of 2,440 meters, recorded approximately 860 meters of continuous natural hydrogen readings—the strongest measurements to date at the project. The well also confirmed an extensive fracture system and favorable source rocks, further supporting the presence of a large hydrogen system. Additionally, the well recovered 120 meters of core, including a record 89.2 meters from the Precambrian basement complex, a single-well record for Saskatchewan.
The ongoing drilling program is designed to strengthen the geological model across MAX Power's broader 1,852-square-kilometer Lawson and Aurora project portfolio. The company believes that successful validation could position it at the forefront of the emerging natural hydrogen industry, which has the potential to provide a low-carbon energy source.
Natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, is generated naturally through geological processes and is considered a promising clean energy resource.
