MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has closed a C$20.5 million private placement, with Eric Sprott as lead investor and Hampton Securities Limited as lead agent and sole bookrunner. The company sold 15,805,624 units at C$1.30 per unit, each unit comprising one common share and one-half of one common share purchase warrant. Each whole warrant entitles the holder to purchase one additional common share at C$2.00 for 24 months from closing.
The proceeds will be used primarily to advance the company's Lawson Natural Hydrogen discovery near Central Butte, Saskatchewan. This discovery represents Canada's first-ever subsurface natural hydrogen system confirmed through deep drilling, with data validated by three independent laboratories. MAX Power plans to allocate funds for analytical testing, resource modeling, seismic acquisition, and additional drilling to delineate the resource potential.
Natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, is garnering increasing attention as a potential low-carbon energy source. Unlike hydrogen produced from fossil fuels, natural hydrogen is generated through geological processes and could offer a more sustainable alternative. MAX Power's land position in Saskatchewan includes approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits, plus an additional 5.7 million acres under application, covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of natural hydrogen.
The company also holds a portfolio of critical mineral properties in the United States and Canada, highlighted by a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, which is 100%-owned by MAX Power's U.S. subsidiary.
Eric Sprott's involvement as lead investor underscores the potential significance of the Lawson discovery. Sprott is a well-known figure in the mining and resource sector, and his participation often signals confidence in a project's prospects. The capital infusion positions MAX Power to aggressively pursue its exploration and development objectives.
MAX Power is committed to responsible exploration and development practices that prioritize environmental stewardship, meaningful community engagement, and strong corporate governance. The company's focus on decarbonization aligns with global trends toward cleaner energy sources.
