MicroSectors Launches MNGU, a 3x Leveraged ETN for AI-Focused Traders

The artificial intelligence investment landscape has a new trading instrument, and its structure carries significant implications for how traders approach the sector. The MicroSectors 3× Long MANGOS+ ex Private Companies ETN, trading under the ticker MNGU on the NYSE, provides three times long exposure to the daily performance of the NYSE MaNGoS+ Index. Launched in August by REX Shares and issued by the Bank of Montreal, the product is a daily-resetting trading tool rather than a conventional investment vehicle. According to the announcement carried by NEWMEDIAWIRE, the ETN is designed for sophisticated investors seeking amplified exposure to companies driving the AI economy.

The importance of the launch lies in the index construction itself. The NYSE MaNGoS+ Index is a rules-based, equal-weighted benchmark of 10 U.S.-listed companies at the center of the AI economy. It is concentrated by design, with each constituent weighted at 10% at every quarterly reconstitution. That concentration means the performance of any single holding has a material effect on the index level, and the 3x leverage factor amplifies that effect in both directions. The six named anchors for the index are described as heavy-hitters, though Anthropic PBC and OpenAI Group PBC remain private as of the index launch date and are therefore ineligible for inclusion. The lowercase letters in MaNGoS denote those two private anchors.

Eligibility rules underscore how selective the benchmark is. Each anchor must carry a float-adjusted market capitalization of at least $5 billion, a six-month average daily traded value of $100 million or more, a free float of at least 5%, a positive trailing 12-month price-to-sales ratio and a minimum trading history. The index also looks at companies that are customers or suppliers of its major AI anchors, ranking candidates by AI-related revenue exposure and selecting the highest-ranked firms until the index reaches 10 constituents.

The most consequential implication for investors is the daily reset mechanism. Because leverage resets every day, returns over any period longer than one day will differ from three times the return of the index. Losses compound the same way gains do, and a choppy, sideways market can produce losses as a result of the reset. That effect increases with index volatility and with the length of the holding period, making MNGU an instrument that must be tracked over the trading day. It is not a buy-and-hold investment. Traders seeking details on the fund can head over to the fund’s page to learn more.

The broader significance is that MNGU packages a concentrated, AI-focused basket into a single leveraged trading vehicle, giving active traders a way to express a short-term bullish view on the AI boom without picking individual companies.
