New Report Highlights Major Lithium Investment Projects Across Latin America

A new report titled “Lithium projects Latin America” provides an exclusive guide to key lithium projects across Latin America, highlighting transformative initiatives driving sustainability and growth in the lithium sector. The report, prepared by Vostock Capital ahead of the 7th International Congress Lithium Latin America, identifies several major projects that are poised to significantly boost lithium production in the region.

Among the projects listed is the expansion of the Fénix Project, now part of Arcadium Lithium, which plans to increase production from 18,000 to 40,000 tons of lithium carbonate annually, pending environmental assessments. This expansion represents an investment of USD $1.4 billion. Another notable project is the Rio Tinto Rincon Project, valued at approximately USD $2.5 billion, which will produce lithium from salt brines and is part of Argentina’s plan to grow lithium production. The Kachi Project, led by Lake Resources in Catamarca, Argentina, involves a planned investment of USD $1.1 billion with an average annual forecast of 25,500 tons of lithium carbonate equivalent.

The report was prepared ahead of the 7th International Congress Lithium Latin America, scheduled for June 4–5, 2026, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The congress will bring together heads of leading lithium operators from across Latin America to discuss project development in today’s economic realities. The event is organized by Vostock Capital, and registration is open through their website.

The implications of these projects are significant for the global lithium market. Latin America, particularly the “Lithium Triangle” spanning Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia, holds a substantial share of the world's lithium reserves. Increased production from these projects could help meet the growing demand for lithium-ion batteries, which are critical for electric vehicles and energy storage systems. The investments also signal strong confidence in the region's ability to scale up production efficiently and sustainably.

The report is based on data obtained from open sources, including media, and Vostock Capital disclaims responsibility for reliance on the information provided. For more details, the report can be requested through the company’s newsroom.
