Northgate González Market Launches 'Familia Fútbol' Campaign Celebrating World Cup 2026

Northgate González Market, Southern California's premier Mexican-themed Hispanic supermarket, officially launched Familia Fútbol, a sweeping World Cup 2026 campaign celebrating the culture, food, and passion for fútbol that unite Latino families across generations. The campaign launch took place March 18 at the landmark Yost Theater in Santa Ana, California, marking the ceremonial kickoff of a community-wide celebration that will carry through the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

The Familia Fútbol campaign honors both the families we are born into and the families we choose, the people we gather with to cheer, celebrate, and share a meal. With Mexico opening the 2026 World Cup tournament at Estadio Azteca in a historic moment for the Latino community, Northgate González Market positions itself as the cultural headquarters for World Cup celebrations in Southern California.

“Soccer is not just a sport for our families, it is memories, identity, and pride,” said Oscar González, Co-President of Northgate González Market. “Familia Fútbol is our way of celebrating this historic World Cup moment through the food, culture, and values that define who we are and who we serve. Once you step into a Latino home, you’re forever familia.”

The campaign features an extraordinary roster of Mexican cultural legends and sports icons, each representing a pillar of community identity. Boxing champion Julio César Chávez brings loyalty and pride; legendary goalkeeper Jorge Campos embodies joy and creativity; luchador El Hijo del Santo represents generational honor; and actress Angélica María serves as the campaign's matriarch. Representing the next generation is Scarlett Camberos, Mexican women's national team star. This roster includes the iconic Pedro Infante, whose legacy provides emotional warmth. Additional soccer legends include Paco Palencia, Claudio Suárez, Ramón Morales, Braulio Luna, Francisco “Maza” Rodríguez, and Carlos Hermosillo.

The launch event at the Yost Theater was hosted by former Mexican soccer player Mariano Trujillo and sports journalist Livette Ruvalcaba, bringing together press, content creators, and community members for an immersive cultural evening. Guests experienced memorabilia from the Familia Fútbol campaign alongside pieces celebrating Mexican legends, live entertainment, and interactive moments with the talent lineup.

Northgate González Market will also bring game-day flavors to life, offering families everything from freshly marinated carne asada and handmade guacamole to aguas frescas and party trays. Throughout the tournament, stores will highlight favorites that turn every match into a moment to share. The March 18 launch is only the beginning. Familia Fútbol will unfold through activations until the World Cup Final in June 2026, including meet-and-greet events with Julio César Chávez, El Hijo del Santo, and Angélica María; eight Familia Fútbol Fan Fests transforming parking lots into community stadiums (April–June); youth soccer clinics with Mexican legends (April–June); a Mother's Day World Cup Makeover Sweepstakes (April 15–May 10); and Father's Day Carne Asada Event and World Cup Final Viewing Parties (June).
