Ocumetics Technology Corp. (TSXV: OTC) (OTCQB: OTCFF) (FRA: 2QBO) has announced positive six-month results from its first-in-human (FIH) clinical study, enabling the company to advance to the next phase of the trial. The company also provided a comprehensive update on its manufacturing, regulatory, financing, and commercialization activities.
Six-month follow-up data from Group One patients demonstrated encouraging safety and performance outcomes, with successful implantation procedures and favorable post-operative results. The study continues to meet its primary objectives related to safety, lens delivery, and distance vision correction. Notably, one patient previously considered legally blind has now qualified to drive, underscoring the potential quality-of-life improvements offered by the Ocumetics Lens.
Based on these positive results, Ocumetics is proceeding with Group Two surgeries, which remain on track for the third quarter of 2026 in Mexico City, led by Principal Investigator Dr. Raphael Vasquez. These surgeries will utilize the company's redesigned next-generation accommodating intraocular lens, which incorporates advancements in manufacturability, surgical handling, and accommodative performance. The new lens features a simplified one-piece design and eliminates internal interface materials such as air, water, or oil.
Manufacturing of the redesigned lens has commenced with the company's German partner, Amiplant GmbH. Upcoming activities include finalizing manufacturing, product verification, sterilization, packaging, and release of clinical inventory. All regulatory requirements necessary to proceed to Group Two surgeries have been successfully completed.
To support the completion of the FIH study and accelerate commercialization, Ocumetics has launched a financing initiative. Proceeds are expected to fund Group Two surgeries, manufacturing and quality verification of clinical lenses, sterilization and packaging activities, regulatory and quality assurance programs, and strategic partnership initiatives. The company has conducted over 50 one-on-one meetings with institutional investors, family offices, and strategic industry participants during recent investor conferences.
Strategic commercialization discussions continue with four of the world's seven largest ophthalmic companies. Management has introduced the Ocumetics technology platform to these organizations, and several have expressed interest in reviewing additional clinical data following Group Two surgeries. Follow-up discussions are tentatively scheduled for early Q4 2026, after one-month patient results from Group Two become available. Management believes these discussions validate the commercial potential of the Ocumetics Lens to address a significant unmet need in vision restoration after cataract surgery.
The company's next-generation lens design is expected to offer enhanced accommodative performance, improved manufacturing consistency, and greater scalability for commercial production. Ocumetics' management remains focused on successfully completing Group Two surgeries, advancing regulatory initiatives, and building strategic relationships to support long-term commercialization.
