A rare 1974 TVR 2500M has been unveiled at the DFW Car & Toy Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, marking a significant addition to the Ron Sturgeon Collection. This freshly restored British sports car, now gleaming in brilliant yellow, represents a meticulous body-off refurbishment that took years to complete. The museum, which houses over 200 collector cars and more than 3,000 vintage toys and artifacts, offers free admission and is open to the public daily.
The TVR 2500M is powered by a 2.5-liter inline-six engine originally sourced from Triumph, rebuilt in 2016 with modern upgrades. These include dual Zenith Stromberg carburetors, a stainless Borla exhaust, a Wizard aluminum radiator, programmable electronic ignition, and a ceramic-coated cast iron manifold. The car's performance is matched by refined details such as a leather-wrapped Astrali steering wheel, classic Smiths instrumentation, and adjustable coil-over dampers for improved handling.
Ron Sturgeon, founder of the museum, noted that TVRs were known for their raw, driver-focused appeal. He described the restoration as a labor of love, emphasizing that the car is not just restored but reimagined for modern reliability while retaining its retro character. The vehicle features signature elements like a pop-up glass sunroof, Perspex wraparound rear window, and a Monza-style fuel filler.
The DFW Car & Toy Museum, located at 2550 McMillan Parkway, Fort Worth, TX, is dog-friendly and encourages photography.
