REPLOID Group AG ("REPLOID") has announced the consolidation of its fertilizer business into a newly formed subsidiary, REPLOID REGREEN GmbH ("REGREEN"), based in Wels, Austria. The move establishes a dedicated company to produce and market organic fertilizers derived from insect frass, a nutrient-rich by-product of Black Soldier Fly larvae processing organic residues from the food industry. Andreas Steinbüchler, who brings over 25 years of experience in the fertilizer industry, has been appointed as Managing Director.
The spin-off is a strategic step to structure REPLOID's entry into the fertilizer market. REGREEN's products will utilize insect frass sourced from REPLOID's own ReFarmUnits. The first product launch is planned for fall 2026, featuring fertilizer sticks for potted plants, followed by a lawn fertilizer and an agricultural fertilizer for commercial farming later that year.
Europe's fertilizer market faces structural challenges, including heavy reliance on imported mineral fertilizers, tightening regulations, and soil degradation. Organic fertilizers, such as those produced by REGREEN, complement mineral options by improving nutrient efficiency, building soil organic matter, and enhancing drought resilience. This positions REGREEN to meet growing demand for locally produced, circular solutions in agriculture and horticulture.
Andreas Steinbüchler, Managing Director of REPLOID REGREEN, stated: "Europe imports fertilizer while its soils are being depleted. Neither is a viable option in the long run. With REGREEN, we are deliberately building what has been missing: a regionally produced organic fertilizer that makes soils more fertile over the long term. With a focused company within the REPLOID Group, we gain the speed and agility to successfully develop the market with innovative products."
Philip Pauer, CEO and Founder of REPLOID Group AG, added: "With REGREEN, we are giving our fertilizer business its own, effective structure and, in Andreas Steinbüchler, a leader with many years of industry experience. This underscores that the fertilizer segment is a strategic growth pillar for us, with enormous scaling potential."
Andreas Steinbüchler has more than 25 years of experience in the fertilizer industry, including over 15 years in leadership roles across sales, supply chain, and finance. From 2018 to 2023, he served as Chief Commercial Officer of LAT Nitrogen GmbH, Europe's second-largest fertilizer producer. He also served as President of the Fertilizers Europe association from 2021 to 2023.
REPLOID Group AG, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Wels, Austria, offers an innovative system for industrial utilization of regional organic residues from the food industry. The company builds and services modular insect-rearing plants (ReFarmUnits) for customers, using Black Soldier Fly larvae to process residual materials. The larvae and by-products are marketed to the animal feed industry, while insect frass is used for premium organic fertilizer. REPLOID has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange's direct market plus segment since July 2025.
