When severe storms damaged the gutters on Jerry Townsley's barn in Greater Cincinnati, the military Veteran reached out to Rooftop Relief, a roofing contractor Cincinnati OH homeowners rely on for storm damage repairs, to inquire about a standard discount for Veterans. But after learning about Townsley's extensive service record, co-founders Jerry Vineyard and Ryan Collins decided a discount was insufficient. Instead, they chose to replace the barn's entire seamless gutter system completely free of charge.
Townsley's life is defined by decades of dedicated public and military service. A graduate of Milford High School (Class of 1961), he entered military service shortly after graduation, spending four years on active duty with the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (CVA-59). Following his naval deployment, he continued with 20 years in the United States Air Force at Rickenbacker Air Force Base. Parallel to his military career, he devoted 39 years to civil service, concluding a remarkable lifetime of contributions to community and country.
When Townsley contacted Rooftop Relief after storm damage left the gutters on his barn severely compromised, he asked if the company offered military discounts. After reviewing the property and learning of Townsley's background, Vineyard and Collins felt that a simple pricing reduction didn't match the level of appreciation he deserved. "When Mr. Townsley called us asking for a Veteran discount after severe storm damage tore up his barn's gutters, Ryan and I looked at his decades of service in the Navy, Air Force, and civil service and knew right away—a discount wasn't enough. Replacing his gutters completely free of charge was the least we could do to show our gratitude," said Vineyard.
