As August marks National Dog Month, Smith Brothers Farms is honoring the loyal companions that greet their delivery drivers at doorsteps across the Pacific Northwest. The family-owned dairy and grocery delivery service is partnering with Blue Dog Bakery to offer weekly prize packs throughout the month, celebrating the bond between pets and their owners while also sharing essential summer safety tips for dogs.
Throughout August, Smith Brothers Farms will give away one prize pack each week, which includes a Blue Dog Bakery Prize Pack and a $50 grocery delivery credit. The initiative aims to reward the furry friends who eagerly await the milkmen and milkwomen, a tradition that the company proudly continues year-round. Peter Olson, Senior Marketing Manager, noted, "Leaving treats for our four-legged friends is a tradition we're proud to carry on all year long. Our Milkmen and Milkwomen keep complimentary dog treats on their trucks and love rewarding the pups who eagerly greet them at the door. It's a small thing that helps make delivery day a little more special."
In addition to the festivities, Smith Brothers Farms is taking the opportunity to remind pet owners about the dangers of heat. Citing The Humane Society, the company emphasizes several critical precautions: never leave pets in parked cars, even with cracked windows; protect sensitive paws by testing pavement with the back of a hand and scheduling walks during cooler parts of the day; ensure access to fresh water at all times; create cool spaces with shade or a shallow kiddie pool; and watch for signs of overheating such as heavy panting, excessive drooling, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid heartbeat, or difficulty walking. During wildfire season, it's also advised to shorten walks and avoid vigorous play during peak heat.
To participate in the giveaways, customers can follow @smithbrotherspnw on Instagram for details. Each week in August, one winner will be randomly selected and announced every Friday, receiving the Blue Dog Bakery Prize Pack and a $50 credit towards their next delivery.
