Stabilus SE (WKN: STAB1L, ISIN: DE000STAB1L8), a global leader in motion control solutions, is expanding its industrial automation business by bundling its expert brands under the Stabilus4Automation initiative. This strategic move targets the rapidly growing robotics and automation markets, leveraging synergies from brands such as ACE, Destaco, Fabreeka, and Hahn Gasfedern. The company aims to offer integrated, scalable solutions for automated production processes, including end-of-arm tooling and robotic applications.
The global addressable market for end-of-arm tooling, gripping systems, and robotic tooling solutions is estimated at approximately EUR 3 billion, with double-digit growth expected as automation increases across industries. Stabilus plans to capture a significant share, targeting EUR 500 million in revenue from new, high-margin innovation products over the long term. The Automation segment, including robotics, is expected to be a key contributor to this goal.
CEO Dr. Michael Buchsner emphasized the importance of this initiative: "Industrial automation is an important growth area for Stabilus. With Stabilus4Automation, we are leveraging synergies within the group to further develop our technology portfolio and offer integrated solutions for demanding automation applications, which also explicitly includes solutions in robotics."
Stabilus plans to implement these automation solutions in its own production plants to optimize manufacturing processes and gain practical insights for product development. The company is also tapping into industrial robotics, including humanoid robots, by applying its core competencies in controlled movement, damping, and vibration reduction. Jurgen Roland, Head of the business unit Industrial Components, noted: "We view industrial automation as an integrated system of the required movements – from the gripper and vibration isolation to drive solution. In the field of cobots and robots with small payloads, we already offer powerful end-of-arm tools and advanced solutions."
An example of the group-wide approach is a handling solution developed by Destaco and ACE, combining automation expertise with damping technology. The integration of ACE’s MC series miniature shock absorbers into Destaco’s end-of-arm tool enhances handling of varying package sizes and improves equipment protection. Such modular, scalable solutions are designed for flexible integration into existing production lines.
Driven by trends like skilled labor shortages and increasing quality requirements, industrial automation and robotics are gaining importance, offering Stabilus additional growth prospects in industrial end markets with long-term investment logic. The company is already working with over 100 partners in robotics and has piloted a 360-degree drive solution for robot joints.
