Stonegate Capital Partners has updated its coverage on Seabridge Gold Inc. (NYSE: SA), focusing on the company's second-quarter 2026 results and the strategic developments surrounding its KSM project. The report highlights the progress of the earn-in joint venture with a preferred partner and a new US$100 million strategic facility, which together are seen as critical steps in advancing KSM and potentially re-rating the company's shares.
According to Stonegate, the KSM partnership is the primary catalyst for rerating Seabridge's stock. The company is advancing an earn-in joint venture under which the partner would commit capital and contribute to project advancement in exchange for a majority interest. Stonegate believes that naming the partner and defining the funding structure would provide the clearest external validation of KSM and could materially reduce the financing and execution discount currently reflected in the share price.
The US$100 million strategic facility, which is unsecured, provides Seabridge with funding certainty for the planned 2026 KSM program and feasibility work while partnership agreements are being finalized. As of August 13, no amounts had been drawn. Although the strategic investor has not been identified, Stonegate views the size, unsecured structure, and timing of the facility as an important signal of confidence in KSM and a meaningful reduction in near-term funding risk.
Stonegate also points out that the valuation gap remains significant. Seabridge trades at roughly 10% of KSM's after-tax net present value (NPV(5%)) of $33.3 billion at recent metal prices, compared to materially higher price-to-NPV multiples for development-stage peers. The discount is attributed to uncertainty around the partner and funding path rather than the quality or scale of KSM itself. As the earn-in JV, feasibility work, and long-term financing structure become clearer, there is potential for Seabridge's shares to move higher on the P/NAV curve.
The quarterly financials are considered secondary, with Q2 net income largely reflecting a one-time gain from the Courageous Lake distribution. The report underscores that the strategic facility and partnership progress are more significant for the company's outlook.
