Emboss LLC has announced that its new game, Subject2, will launch on November 2, 2026, with its first official season, Welcome to Season 1: Florida. The game, described as "The Daily Game for Busy Appraisers," puts players in the shoes of an appraiser through simulated appraisal orders and questions based on the new UAD 3.6 rules. Players can compete for free for a chance to win a Caribbean cruise for two, or a similar vacation package or cash prize, and for a spot on the national Top 100 Appraisers in America leaderboard. The announcement matters because it introduces a novel way to engage appraisers with upcoming industry standards while drawing attention to the profession's challenges, including stagnant pay and risk burden.
Subject2 is designed from an appraiser's perspective, with a points system that incorporates relative dollar values and costs to reflect business realities. Players receive two orders each weekday and can claim one additional free order between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. local time. Gameplay is intended to take less than five minutes a day on desktop or phone, making it accessible for busy professionals. Registration is required, and participants must hold an active appraiser license or trainee registration to win. Preseason practice is available now, but preseason scores do not count toward the season prize. Those who join by December 14 still get three full weeks of scoring toward the grand prize cruise. Season 1 runs from November 2, 2026, through January 3, 2027, and a player's three best weeks out of nine count toward the season score, allowing flexibility for those who miss a week or start late.
Founder Brandon Selfors explained the motivation behind the game: "The purpose of the game is to challenge the way software is often imposed on appraisers instead of being built around them. Subject2 is my way of slowing down the industry and asking people to pause and empathize with what appraisers go through. The industry is struggling. Appraisers haven't seen meaningful pay increases in more than two decades, yet they carry a substantial share of the risk in the transaction. Something isn't right. Senior appraisers owe it to the next generation to stand up for the profession." The game is part of Emboss's broader commitment to building technology around appraisers' needs, including the development of GUNTER, an appraisal management platform for independent appraisers and select AMC clients.
The launch comes at a critical time as appraisers prepare for UAD 3.6, which will require updated knowledge and practices. By gamifying the learning process, Subject2 may help appraisers familiarize themselves with the new rules in an engaging, low-pressure environment. The prize incentives and leaderboard add a competitive element that could foster community and recognition. Eligibility requirements and restrictions apply, and no purchase is necessary to play or win. An optional paid season pass is available for additional practice, but purchasing it does not improve a player's chances of winning. The game is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Appraisal Foundation, the GSEs, or any agency, and is not continuing education credit.
