Tijuana Flats is bringing back its Cheeseburger Tacos after nearly a decade of customer requests, and is expanding the concept with two new menu items. The chain, owned by Latitude Food Group, announced the return on Sept. 28, 2026, making the Cheeseburger Taco available again alongside a Cheeseburger Burrito and Cheeseburger Loaded Fries. The decision comes as the brand continues its "Bigger.Better.Bolder" journey, according to CEO James O'Reilly.
The reintroduction is significant because it directly addresses sustained demand from both customers and franchisees. "Our flatheads and our franchisees never stopped asking for Cheeseburger Tacos," O'Reilly said. "So now we have brought the Cheeseburger Tacos back, and we created two new ways to experience that cheeseburger flavor." The move reflects a broader trend in fast-casual dining where brands leverage customer loyalty and social media buzz to drive product innovation and foot traffic.
All three items feature seasoned ground beef, queso, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard, but without a bun. The Cheeseburger Tacos, priced at $10.99, include two grilled flour tortillas served with fries. The Cheeseburger Burrito, at $11.99, wraps the ingredients in a warm flour tortilla with seasoned fries inside, toasted until golden and served with fries on the side. The Cheeseburger Loaded Fries, at $9.99, top crispy fries with all the cheeseburger ingredients.
The lineup launches at all Tijuana Flats locations across Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, and Kentucky. Customers can order dine-in, carryout, or online at Tijuana Flats. The chain also promotes its Flathead Rewards program, where members earn one point per dollar spent, redeemable for exclusive rewards and deals. For franchisees, the return of a proven product could boost sales and customer engagement. Tijuana Flats, founded in 1995 in Winter Park, Florida, operates nearly 100 company-owned and franchised restaurants. As part of the newly formed Latitude Food Group, the chain is positioning itself for growth. The reintroduction of Cheeseburger Tacos, combined with new variations, demonstrates how listening to customer feedback can drive menu strategy and brand loyalty. In a competitive fast-casual market, such moves are essential for maintaining relevance and satisfying both diners and investors.
