Trailbreaker Resources Ltd. (TBK.V) has announced the completion of its maiden diamond drill program at the Swan Zone, located within the company's 100%-owned Atsutla Gold Project in northwestern British Columbia. The program, consisting of two holes totaling 801 meters, was part of a larger exploration effort that also tested the Highlands Zone, a high-grade vein-hosted gold target. The Swan Zone is a Cu-Au-Ag porphyry target defined by a 1.5 km by 1.5 km multi-element soil geochemical anomaly coincident with a 2.1 km by 1.4 km chargeability anomaly, as detailed in the company's news release.
The drilling at Swan Zone tested a strike length of 1,000 meters and a vertical extent of 395 meters, providing initial data on the porphyry system. This follows the completion of four holes at the Highlands Zone, which tested a strike length of 500 meters and a vertical extent of 412 meters. The two zones are 26 kilometers apart and hosted in distinct geological units: the Jurassic Christmas Creek batholith for Highlands and the Cretaceous Glundebery batholith for Swan.
A total of 1,000 drill core samples, including standards and blanks, have been submitted to Bureau Veritas' prep lab in Whitehorse, Yukon. Assay results are pending and will be released after compilation and verification. The company's president, Daithi Mac Gearailt, emphasized the significance of the program: "This was a well-executed drill program that provided us with an excellent opportunity to finally test two quality targets that we have been developing for the past five years. This was a first-pass, exploratory program, and we achieved our goals while remaining within budget."
The Atsutla Gold Project is centered over the regional-scale Teslin-Thibert fault system, which marks the contact between the Quesnel and Cache Creek terranes. Since discovery in 2020, Trailbreaker has outlined five significant zones of gold mineralization across a span of 26 kilometers. These include the Highlands Zone with veins containing coarse visible gold assaying up to 630 g/t Au and 1,894 g/t Ag; the Christmas Creek Zone with gold-bearing quartz veins assaying up to 102 g/t Au; the Snook Zone with high-grade veins assaying up to 53.3 g/t; the Willie Jack Zone with a gold-in-soil anomaly and rock samples up to 9.9 g/t Au; and the Swan Zone, where rock grab samples have graded up to 11.7 g/t Au, 212 g/t Ag, and 0.81% Cu.
The Swan Zone's geochemical anomaly is also coincident with a donut-shaped chargeability high from a 2024 induced polarization survey and a magnetic low signature from a 2024 airborne survey, indicating a zone of elevated potassium. This combination of anomalies suggests a strong porphyry system that warrants further exploration.
